30 degree heat and keep it round the pool all day every day dressed in vest, leggings and socks?

leggings and socks in 30 degree heat!?

HcbSS · 04/07/2024 22:57

Doesn’t sound like much of a holiday.
Would only do it for a family emergency/funeral etc.

LemonDropsXx · 04/07/2024 22:58

You do realise there are babies born into hot countries so yes I would, I don't know about dressing them in the attire you are suggesting though. I had a newborn in hotter temps than that and they definitely weren't dressed in all that.

ChannelyourinnerElsa · 04/07/2024 22:58

Yes I’d take a newborn abroad.

yes, I would go to a country with 30C heat. That is England the past few summers after all.

no, I wouldn’t sit for hours in the sun around a pool with a baby fully dressed.

Ifthisiswheretheworldisheadingcountmeout · 04/07/2024 22:59

Would I take a newborn abroad? Yes
Dressed like that in that heat? No

Username1010 · 04/07/2024 22:59

Personally I wouldn’t but I expect babies are born in countries where this is typical
weather and as they sleep all day, as long as they are in the shade?

I’d be worried about overheating, mosquitos, getting vaccinated first though!

Simonjt · 04/07/2024 22:59

30 degree heat is winter temperatures where i’m from, oddly enough we’re fine

JumpstartMondays · 04/07/2024 22:59

Depends how newborn we're talking

ItmeansIdontcare · 04/07/2024 23:00

No

TribeofFfive · 04/07/2024 23:01

We’ve taken all our abroad as newborns. Much easier than toddlers!
Not dressed like that though!

Coffeerum · 04/07/2024 23:03

I’ve taken my young baby out in London in 30 degrees. Often it’s better for them to be in light clothes that covers their skin rather than anything being exposed to the sun.

Summerinspringtime · 04/07/2024 23:05

No I wouldn’t unless it was for something very important such as a funeral, to see a dying relative, a wedding that sort of thing. For a holiday no.
It is not the same as living there is it?

Notthisone · 04/07/2024 23:06

Leggings and socks, NO. Rompers like this absolutely. Our eldest DS was born in the June of a hot year and this is how we dressed him through the summer. We also travelled abroad when he was young and despite my anxiety it was actually far easier than when he was slightly older. It got easier again from about 3.5.

Would you take a newborn abroad?
EddieSweety · 04/07/2024 23:06

Literally hours old - probs not.

like a couple months - yes.

but why the vest, leggings etc?!

BuffaloCauliflower · 04/07/2024 23:07

A newborn wouldn’t need leggings and socks in 30°.

Both my kids as newborns? Sure. They’d boob all day and sleep, I’d read a book, chat, nap. All good. A more fractious baby? No. Have you had this baby yet?

JuliesName · 04/07/2024 23:07

Which parent in your life is this dull, passive aggressive post about?

25smallstacey · 04/07/2024 23:07

I'm assuming vest/leggings as they were worried about sun exposure. I know covering is recommended more than SPF at that age. I hope baby is wearing a hat? I'd bring baby to a hot country, yes but I'd try shade them

BuffaloCauliflower · 04/07/2024 23:09

Yes to shading them. You shouldn’t put suncream on a newborn, but under an umbrella, all good

thehousewiththesagegreensofa · 04/07/2024 23:10

DS was born in a warm spell in the U.K. and it was over 30 degrees for the first week of his life. What was I suppose to have done? Kept my legs crossed for a week? (Actually, he was 10 days late anyway so was already having conversations about c sections).

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 04/07/2024 23:11

I wouldn't personally but I wouldn't judge a parent who did as long as they were clearly looking after the baby and not getting drunk all day. They may be accustomed to higher temps and very on the ball with protecting baby from the sun.

BlackGoldSun · 04/07/2024 23:11

How old do you mean? It took us a while to get DC1 registered and passport sorted but when it arrived we went abroad to hotter than that within a week for a wedding. There was no pool or beach nearby and the baby mainly wore vests and sun hats.

KrisAkabusi · 04/07/2024 23:47

Would do, have done. Maybe not in those clothes, but nothing wrong with travel at an early age.

Gladysrocker · 04/07/2024 23:58

To put it in context. Baby, no more than two weeks old, with parents and grandparents, around the pool all day everyday. From a cooler European country to a much warmer one.

Do you think they should be taking it on daytrips? Honestly, I can't see anything wrong with this. If it's not visibly reacting to the heat (and it can't be or it's the first thing you would have said), it's fine.
