To think no politicians care at all

So I was at a dinner party last night and all my friends where saying they're voting for labour and seemed really enthusiastic that everything will get better.
I too am voting labour but don't think much will change.. I have some American friends and they say Biden is just as bad as trump when it comes to politics even though they're on opposite sides. I feel it's the same in the UK.

I personally think most politicians are in it for themselves and serve the globalist agenda of making us all drones to capitalism and consumerism, and they are just here to manage all the chaos that's created in-between.
I think statistically things may look better but I don't think we will notice it in our daily lives.

I was saying this to my friends last night and they looked at me with sorrow. One of my friends said maybe I was depressed. Maybe I spend to much time on twitter...

Does anyone else feel like this?

I’m in a safe Labour seat and it’s safe because the MP is a powerhouse. She has surgeries weekly, actually follows things up, helps where she can and you can see her all the time in the community.

You don’t work like her if you don’t care. Shes been the MP for a good 20 years and never in shadow role - she’s a solid constituency MP and she gets around 60% of the vote.

I'm sorry did you call me a racist because I'm concerned that many people in my area don't speak English?
Who cares about social cohesion and having shared values...

Not speaking english doesn’t mean that you don’t have shared values…

Bothsidesism is a crock of shit. Some do care more than others. There is no way Biden, for all his faults, could ever be as destructive as a dictatorial, treasonous psychopath like Trump. Anybody who says otherwise should be considered functionally brain dead and is best ignored. Please don't fall into that trap. It's lazy thinking and often just an excuse not to vote.

I understand why your friends looked at you this way - you sound like a conspiracy theorist and very detached from reality.

This serve the globalist agenda of making us all drones to capitalism and consumerism in particular is pure social media conspiracy stuff.

Do you know much about local politics in your area? A lot of hardworking people doing good stuff in all areas of the country.

Do you have to pay to drink water?? Do you have to pay to eat? Yes you do.... the fundamentals of life... we are slaves to consumerism the fact that you don't see it, means your enslavers are doing a good job! Well on you anyway...

It's not conspiracy lol 😆 it's a clear as day

As for local government doing a good job that's the biggest laugh I've had all week!

I just think that the only thing in the coffers when Keir opens them are going to be two lonely moths. There is no money to do what labour need to do to support those who need it most. It's going to be decades before we come out of the slump that was COVID and the financial impact that had.

Four years simply isnt enough time to make the difference they need either, we need a full restructure of the education system for the modern working world and to take into account the additional pressures of having so many children with complex needs in mainstream and the NHS clearly isn't working either and isn't sustainable in its current state, a tiered health insurance process / or contribution system on a sliding scale might be the way to go for those that can afford it, I'd certainly pay in if it meant I could actually see a doctor.

A reform of migration policy perhaps to echo Australia and Canada's process and a caring middle ground for the boats, supporting the vulnerable people.

I think we need to accept that we aren't going to get communities back to where they were and nor is there money for community improvement, National Service isnt appropriate but community centre volunteer hubs that encourage people to get involved in taking pride in their local area, litter picking, repainting areas, etc would work well and be a labour style project. There are lots of people becoming quite isolated now and not just those who have physical or MH issues or are elderly but those on a good wage that WFH I can go all week without talking to anyone in person other than DD and something like that might work wonders.

Although I live in a Reform area now so who knows what that holds in place.

The quality of politicians and those running public institutions have never been lower. They tend to be stupid, corrupt, or narcissists who believe they are superior to everyone else.

Politicians, especially MPs are generally scraping the bottom of the barrel in every way.

Exactly, most people have to work until there in their late 60's and for people saying... Well become a millionaire!! The system doesn't work like that, it relies on most people needing to work all their lives.
The retirement age & col keeps rising whilst the standard of living keeps falling.

And no government can fixed that. Not the red team or the blue team.

No I think certain politicians care about people and communities. Tends to be the more socialist ones tbh. Green Party , Kier etc.

However others are just power crazy; Farage, Johnson, Trump.

Others care about money; Rishi

I think what politicians care about aligns to their political leanings.

My MP was brilliant when I lost my enhanced PIP. She kept me informed & did everything she could, including taking my case to the Parliamentory group for benefits. From her taking on my case to me getting it reinstated was about 2 weeks, in which time she emailed me nearly every day. I'm pleased to say she has been appointed a minister in the new Labour government.

rickyrickygrimes · 06/07/2024 05:31

I think politics attracts a real mixed bag of personalities, probably with a higher proportion of narcissists and sociopaths than the general population.

but irrespective of that, even if Labour are nice / caring etc, they are not going to be able to achieve what they say they want to. I agree with @Singleandproud : the world has changed in a multitude of ways and the old solutions are not going to work. In the bbc they were interviewing people in Grimsby, which went Tory last time and is now back to Labour. I don’t believe that any political party is going to be able to solve the massive socioeconomic problems in places like that.
