To wonder if MN has changed much in 13 or so years?

Reregistered on MN to check out the SN board and possibly post for some thoughts. My old user name is no more and I have no idea if some of the old faces are still around, but I found my self thinking 'Do people still offer a biscuit?' 'Do people still vehemently argue their position of the order of knives, forks and spoons?' Do people still talk about the moldies?'

There was another thread that rings a bell about furniture legs....possibly Victorian furniture but I can't for the life of me remember...I do recall it making me chuckle a lot.

This has honestly made me so nostalgic.

I've been here since pre-9/11. It's insane thinking about it like that and how much it has changed. I think it's funnier when you "know" posters so know their voice. As it's got so much bigger, it's lost that. But there are still some witty posters, just have to avoid AIBU to find them. AIBU is full of humourless aggressive bored arguers.

I can't imagine a meetup being arranged now. Very few posters I feel I'd want to meet now.
And what is sad is how many posters have died.

Have a Biscuit and a Brew

The biggest change for me is loss of humour. Trigger warnings that a thread was light-hearted were definitely a regressive step.

There's lots of little cosy chats in the quieter sections that are largely unchanged over the years. Smile

Xenia is still here. Saw a post of hers yesterday.

i don't think it's nearly as witty anymore - things went massively downhill after penis beaker.
I was silently lamenting the loss of many of the wonderful women who were both funny and supportive.
