Been a regular for a year. Doing kettlebells, HIT and body tone. Not lost 1 pound and I don't feel different so why am I going

What do you weigh o/p?

I agree with pp if you’re doing intense workouts and only eating 1300 calories there’s something wrong somewhere.

KidneyWarrior · 28/06/2024 19:18

I'd up your cardio to burn fat - your max heart rate is 220 minus your age, so if you're 37 that's 183. Weights build tone and strength but they're not really for burning fat. I'd make changes, rather than stop - you've done a great job to have been going so long and so consistently, especially considering you've not enjoyed it.

FlowersAndFairiesAndPie · 28/06/2024 19:21

I weigh 65kg.

You need to try the bike or the treadmill for an hour 3x a week. For me, running is the only way I keep the weight off. Strength exercises help tone but don’t burn the fat.

WavingTree · 28/06/2024 19:31

I put your height and weight into the calculator, moderately active and this is wfat it says.

Your calorie counting must be wrong

Your cardiac health will be benefiting from it all.

XChrome · 28/06/2024 19:37

You may have actually gained muscle but lost fat, which is often why your weight doesn't change. The scale can't tell the difference. Some scales claim to measure bodyfat percentage, but they aren't accurate.
As others have said, diet is most of the battle with fat loss anyway.

Don't quit working out. It has enormous benefits.

xyz111 · 28/06/2024 19:38

How are you tracking your calories?

Dontsayyouloveme · 28/06/2024 19:38

Are you in peri-menopause? The reason I ask is because even though I was eating 1,300 calories a day and exercised every day…. Nothing changed… Until… I started HRT and it had kicked in! Literally overnight (although obviously not overnight due the months I’d been exercising and in calorie deficit) I got on the scales and I’d lost 8lb…

lack of oestrogen means you retain weight… regardless of anything else you’re doing! It’s a bitch!

FlowersAndFairiesAndPie · 28/06/2024 19:40

Fitness pal. I dont think I'm peri.

How tall and heavy are you because 1300 calories is probably only around your BMR and if you're doing exercise several times a week you're possibly not eating enough for your body's needs. You're definitely not going to gain muscle on that sort of calorie deficit.

Great point.

WavingTree · 28/06/2024 19:41

If you’re in a calorie deficit you will lose weight

Have you tried lowering your carbs? Some people need to in order to lose fat. You will then be able to eat more than 1300 calories, which really is not enough fuel for the intensity of your workouts.

FlowersAndFairiesAndPie · 28/06/2024 19:47

Carbs low most days. Thanks for the advice but I think my gym days are over.

Odd to start a thread and ignore the advice

going to the gym isn't going to lose you weight.

If you go for 4 hours a week and there are 168 hours in a week, in the scheme of things its not a lot

what gym work will do is help balance your hormones, help you get through menopause, set of endorphins in your brain to make you feel ok, look after your lungs, heart nd overall well being.
