It was parents evening last week at kids sch

ABIU to think it is not nice to have a register to sign in when it's ones booked time to go in & speak to child's teacher? The register is got the child's name, and parents names next to it and a signature box to sign in.

ABIU to think there shouldn't be parents full names on the registration form? For privacy reasons?

But what is the secrecy about your name?
I genuinely don't get what the problem is...

JumpstartMondays · 26/06/2024 20:30

This screams 'fire register' to me

wotcanido · 26/06/2024 20:44

No secrecy but I have heard a particular parent going round asking other parents if they know my surname (they all know my 1st name) they all don't know my surname so they couldn't tell her. But I wonder why she can't just ask me directly. I don't normally do runs but she se's me occasionally and she's got my phone number because our kids are in same class hence same what's up group to keep abreast of things

I just thought since she can't ask me directly but chose to go round asking (I wonder why she wants to know) I would not make it easy for her to know- all she needs to do is ask me 🤷🏽‍♀️

You are the type of parent we talk about in the staffroom.

Oh my, they don't even know me 🤣🤣

At my dc's primary school, the Head would sit at the entrance with a list of all the children's names and the parents would have to sign next to their child's name before they went through to meet the teacher. I think that is fine as not open access to everyone to see.

Oh wow that's a very good idea

I don't think thisnis the best use of a headteacher's time, personally.

wotcanido · 26/06/2024 20:50

As per taking picture of names, I wouldn't be surprised if she did from what I know about this particular person , what I have overheard, heard and the fact that she makes it her business to know everyone and she friends with most of the sch staff teaching and non teaching and in PTA organiser.

OP posts:
Peekachewy · 26/06/2024 20:51

Is your name Wayne Kerr?

wotcanido · 26/06/2024 20:52

@wafflesmgee yes you are right that is not the best use of the headteachers time but they can find a way to make more private 🤷🏽‍♀️

Is obviously not about my name itself it is about the person that is going behind my back asking other people about and can't ask directly 🤷🏽‍♀️
I have no idea why she wants to know my surname btw that she goes out of her way to ask others

It sounds like you have made a lot of judgements about this person based on what you have 'overheard'
Why are you so suspicious about their intentions?

wotcanido · 26/06/2024 20:55

@HappierTimesAhead

Not just making a judgement about what I have overheard but also what I know

But bottom line is, why is she going round asking for my surname? Y not ask?

OP posts:
wotcanido · 26/06/2024 20:59

@HappierTimesAhead
Why would anyone be going round asking

She can text me to ask (she's got my number)
She sees me sometimes
Oh and we have all go out for lunch about 3 times- why not ask?

Also, why does she want to know?

Why don't you ask her? I have asked other mums for another mums contact details or asked what the name of their child is before. Sometimes to invite to parties, sometimes to figure out whos who in the class WhatsApp. Asking someone directly can feel a bit uncomfortable sometimes.

wotcanido · 26/06/2024 21:04

@HappierTimesAhead

Yes sure I have asked for kids names for birthday invites etc
But isn't this different? Isn't it?

Like I said we have all gone out a few times and they all know I am not married and I am not ashamed of it because I do not need to be married to validate my life although the father of my kids in my partner and we live together but my choice not to get married.

She's got all the opportunities to ask me for my surname

Ah, okay. You think she is trying to find out if you are married and you are pissed off about it.
I'm not married to my partner either and I can't get worked up about someone who is bothered about that.

Castlereagh · 26/06/2024 21:08

IME at primary your kids will tell anyone who wants to know what your surname is, how old you are, how much you swear in the car, how you were cross with daddy....I know Betty's mum likes drinking wine and Sam's dad left because he didn't like his mums new boyfriend 😄 privacy goes out the window I'm afraid.

My god you have far too much time on your hands.

Who cares? I mean, apart from you, who need to go into such length to justify your marital situation, when frankly, no one cares, apart from your mum possibly.

I wonder if we can all start to guess why she wants to know my surname

because she's in the mafia and want to put a contract on your head?

Because she thought she recognised you on a porn video and want to double check?

Or because possibly, because she's nosey and wondering what job you do, or something equally insignificant? The same way as people go on right move to see how their neighbours decorated their kitchen?

Why would anyone need to take a photo of the name of a celebrity, if they know they ate a celebrity they know their name, I don't understand 😂

OP you need to explain why anyone would be trying to find out your name and is there a register for each teacher or one the way in? It would certainly stave off the boredom of waiting in a queue to watch other parent trying to nonchalantly take photos of the sign in sheets

They wouldn't need to take a photo but they might be like ahhhhh Cheryl Tweedy is here I'll let the press know
