Would you go on holiday if covid positive, trying to settle an argument!

Yes. If I felt well enough. But then I wouldn’t have tested.

Yes of course. It’s not 2020.

WhatWouldJeevesDo · 26/06/2024 16:18

How expensive is it to cancel? How many people going? How ill?

Mamabear487 · 26/06/2024 16:19

Yes absolutely

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 26/06/2024 16:20

Nope but we have very vulnerable people in our household

TipsyKoala · 26/06/2024 16:21

I wouldn’t know because I don’t test, who does? Whether I went on holiday would be based on how I’ll I felt.

mitogoshi · 26/06/2024 16:21

Yes but I wouldn't know because I don't test. I use the am I ill test instead

beckybarefoot · 26/06/2024 16:22

It would depend on if I feel well enough to travel!

Some will argue it's selfish to expose others too it.. but, just in my place of work, if we have covid, if we feel well enough we have to go to work!

To be fair, and I was all for masks etc.. I don't even test now, what's the point?

UltramarineViolet · 26/06/2024 16:22

I wouldn't have tested in first place so hard to answer but yes I probably would as long as I didn't feel really awful

Wear a mask if you're on a flight or in other crowded area obviously

Cornettoninja · 26/06/2024 16:24

Depends. If the Covid is causing real illness then probably not. If it’s just an annoyance the I’d still go.

no one is testing anymore unless they’ve a reason to and I think anyone half conscious would be unsurprised to encounter it anywhere, including a plane.

said as someone with no B or T immune cells currently.

WhatWouldJeevesDo · 26/06/2024 16:25

I wouldn’t really want to because it would mean being in close proximity with someone with health anxieties.

Pritas · 26/06/2024 16:26

St travel insurance covers cancellation for COVID.
However I know most people don't test and this is why I wear a mask when flying. I think these days if you are vulnerable as I am then you have to accept that COVID is around and you may catch it.
I don't let that stop me but I would not want a holiday spoiled.
Of course some fit and healthy people can still be pretty unwell with covid.
I'd say UK - go. It's easy to go home if you're poorly.

summersofdoom · 26/06/2024 16:26

I wouldn't have tested either.

It depends how "ill"is ill, how you are getting there, what kind of accommodation you organised

NamingConundrum · 26/06/2024 16:26

Wouldn't know as wouldn't test. If I felt well I'd go. If I thought I felt like I had a cold I'd have some meds and go. If I felt awful I wouldn't be going no matter what it was.

Peonies12 · 26/06/2024 16:26

I would never have tested in first place. People go on holiday ill all the time.

Mindymomo · 26/06/2024 16:29

If I tested positive then no, as I would ensure I had Covid cover on my insurance and would travel another time.

Anonym00se · 26/06/2024 16:31

Last time I had Covid I couldn’t get out of bed, so no.

Wendysfriend · 26/06/2024 16:38

As we have 2 very vulnerable people in our family and still test I would appreciate if someone didn't get on a plane with COVID, but people are basically for themselves now, they don't really care if my dd or DH become seriously ill, once they feel fine then it's my problem to deal with anything DD and DH pick up.

CasperGutman · 26/06/2024 16:38

In accordance with medical guidance, I wouldn't take a test. I'd go if I felt well enough, and cancel if I was too ill to travel.

Same. We don't have any tests in the house anymore, we binned expired ones.

Can you even still order free LFTs for delivery?

A serious question: is it even possible to buy insurance that will pay out if you are well in yourself but decide not to travel because you take a covid test and get a positive result? If so, why? Is similar insurance available that will pay out if you have positive tests for other illnesses, e.g. flu, that could also be dangerous for vulnerable people?

I don't think you can get them for free any more, no. You would have to buy them yourself.

Crunchymum · 26/06/2024 16:43

It's all a moot point as I don't test but I'll answer "would you still go on holiday if you were ill?"

What sort of holiday?

Are you driving yourself and staying in an AirbNb? Or getting on a plane for an all inclusive in Spain? How ill are you?

For me if I was too ill to enjoy then I'd cancel / join everyone later / rebook (whatever option works)

OooohAhhhh · 26/06/2024 16:44

I would but I wouldn't have tested
