To ask how much you’d expect to pay for a holiday

7 nights, 4 or 5 star, out of school holiday season, all inclusive. Two adults and a baby.
We’re pricing it up next year and I’m really surprised at the cost - what would you expect to pay for this?

I'm doing canaries all inclusive 3 star for 2.5k total for 2 adults and 1 teenage for 11 days in Easter holidays next year but booked in March this year. I have stayed in 3 stars which have been better than 5 stars in the past.

5 of us going to Spain in summer school holidays. £4700. Nice 4 star hotel all inclusive with On the Beach.

We’ve just returned from Greece. Two adults, one infant, 7 nights. 4 star all-inclusive package including flights and transfers. We booked it in February with Jet2 and it cost us £1400 total. We did shop around a lot and waited for their sale.

We're paying £3700 for a similar holiday with a 2 year old rather than a baby. But that's the top end of hotels we'd consider, which people we know have raved about. And it's our first holiday in 5 years so we're splashing out.

For an average place, I'd be looking at around £1-1200 per adult and a free child place.

Wait for black Friday, paid under 2K for family of 4. Hotel was branded 5 stars but more 4 star. Decent food and cleanliness

We’ve done 1 week at 4/5star AI with water parks, unlimited snacks and food in early July for 2 adults and 2 children for £4k for last 3 years

I would expect it to be max £3k for 2 adults and baby if you’re flexible on dates and it’s in term time

All inclusive bumps the price up dramatically and imo is not worth it unless a) you have teenagers or b) you drink like a fish.
Chech the half board price and consider paying for lunch and drinks separately. DH and I go HB and the extra cist of drinks is far less than AI even if you put everything on the tab at the hotel.
We usually go 4* minimum at a cost of £1400 each roughly.

Also, I'd consider whether AI is really the best value, as a PP has said.
Half board is often much cheaper-seeming at the outset, but unless you drink gallons of booze which seems unlikely with a very young child, or eat 3x 3 course meals every day, you are paying for the convenience and packaging. AI is basically the Ikea of holidays - I'm not denying it can be attractive with tween or teen kids, but there is usually better value to be had for most other demographics!

You also have a much wider choice of hotels if you opt for half board, and can use those which aren't solely serving the package market.

Minimum £4k for somewhere genuinely nice for a week all inclusive. I'd expect £6-7k for somewhere 5*

Oh try Lanzarote I’m sure you could get cheaper there or P. Mogan in Granaria lovely beach, marina etc

A week out of high season in Europe at 4/5 star would probably set you back around £1500 per person. You might get it for £1k at a cheaper resort.

Anywhere between 2 & 3k I’d say is doable…mumsnet is a crazy place if 10k is normal…!

Term time we’ve paid about £500-750 pp for that.
School hols we are paying £800pp for a 3/4 star hotel AI, you can of course spend more!

£3500 at least if you're going in June time- obviously a lot more for middle to end of July.

We went to a lovely 5 star all inclusive last year with a little one- in June it was £4k we looked at August out of curiosity and the same holiday was £6500!

I would get the best you can afford. Before booking do your research on the area/ trip advisor etc.

Have a look at easyJet holidays, we’ve got some real bargains with them! No payment required until 6 weeks before (bar deposit) and change/cancel anytime before then easily online. Some lovely filters, literally hundreds of £ less than Tui/jet2

Official star ratings - as opposed to TripAdvisor ratings - are determined by what facilities a hotel has, not how good it is. For example, in some countries a hotel needs to have ‘business facilities’ to be a 4* and in some it needs to be wheelchair accessible.

Each country is different, but - higher rating doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a better hotel.

I was (honestly) gonna say about £3k.
Prices for a holiday in the med have increased again. 😫

I stayed in a 5 star resort in marmaris in may. 14 days all inclusive for 2 adults and 2 children )4 and 14. Paid just under 4 grand with luggage and insurance but not transfers. Going back October half term but without the 14 year old and only for a week and paid 1900. Booking to go back next August for 10 days and again without the 14 (15 by then) and it’s still only 3500. I’d happily pay about 4-5k for our main family holiday and a bit less for my extra one.

if you want something nice I would say 3k minimum

You could do that for £1k each outside school holidays.

No wonder you've never been if you think a week in the sun is £3k per person!!
I routinely go on week long holidays to very nice hotels for £5/700pp

Also look at Jet2holidays, for a year from now, 5 star AI is starting at under £2.5k for all of you.

If you go in early/mid May that drops to under £2k.
