Bloody vile stuff.

I really like the taste plus the energy and concentration boost.

MegsNaiceJam · 20/06/2024 00:15

I can’t drink energy drinks, have never smelt it or drunk it, but I imagine it as a sort of Mountain Dew or Irn Bru thing? What is it like?

malmi · 20/06/2024 00:19

You've obviously never tried it. Anyone who has enjoys it!

Ohfuckwhatdoidonow · 20/06/2024 00:23

Because after very little sleep, when I have to be up and out the door early with 2 very young kids and a teenager, I can hold everything and pop a can in a pocket.

It's cold so I don't need to worry about burning anyone.

I can have it almost frozen, so it really hits the spot (I love ice...think its linked to anaemia I can't get rid of)

Its just convenient, I don't really like the taste though, just accessible caffeine throughout the day.

thefamous5 · 20/06/2024 00:47

I like the taste of it

Firefly1987 · 20/06/2024 03:37

I like it, mostly because I LOVE fizzy drinks. But one time I had two and it made me feel ill so I don't drink it now. This thread is making me want one though cos I'd almost forgotten about them. I don't understand why people like wine, my parents let me have a sip as a kid and I thought it was gross. They told me I'd develop a taste for it when I got older but I'm still waiting for that to kick in. Kind of glad it didn't, it's nice being teetotal. Others love it though soWine

Auburngal · 20/06/2024 05:33

I’m fine with energy drinks but not the original Red Bull as it tastes awful.

What I do find odd is that when I litter pick, we find loads of RB cans. Obviously don’t give enough energy for those who drink it to put cans in a bin

SquashPenguin · 20/06/2024 07:16

What a stupid post.

My younger colleagues (early/mid 20s) will drink 1-3 cans every day. The smell of it makes me heave as it reminds of vodka red bulls in my student days 😅

Same! 😁🤣

user1496146479 · 20/06/2024 12:39

Never liked it, could only stomach it in my youth when mixed with vodka! Blush

protectoroftherealm · 20/06/2024 12:43

Can't stand coffee, Pernod, whiskey, snickers bars, all sorts of things that maybe you do like?

Ausish · 20/06/2024 12:53

Because it gives you wings.

Obviously.

ToplessWordle · 20/06/2024 12:53

I don't really like it but it's very useful if I have to drive after a bad night's sleep, to help me stay alert.

I used to have a colleague who would always get terribly airsick. So if he had to fly for work, he'd drink Red Bull before take-off so his vomit would smell of Red Bull rather than vomit, out of consideration for nearby passengers.

pinkdelight · 20/06/2024 12:58

Why do people like amphetamines?

Similar reason but it's easier to get hold of, cheaper, and more acceptable.

I had Red Bull once, years ago, after I'd been working over 24 hours and needed to stay awake for training. Awful palpitations. Never touched it again.

Once worked with someone who regularly burned the candle at both ends, he got an ambulance called to the workplace after having a funny turn. He was fine, but it turns out you shouldn't rely on Monsters+cigarettes to get you through a 12 hour shift on no sleep and not bother eating...

notedbiscuits · 20/06/2024 13:12

It’s parents that give Red Bull or other energy drinks to toddlers in pushchairs I find off putting

How inconsiderate and stupid are these parents

How often do you actually see a parent give a child a red bull?

Trewa · 20/06/2024 13:24

I’ve never seen a toddler in a pram with a monster or red bull.

Yep, never seen that happen. 🙄 Do you know Waynetta Slob?

You must live in a really rough area.

I’ve tried it and it’s absolutely vile stuff. I also really don’t like tea. I understand that everyone likes different things though.

OneTC · 20/06/2024 13:30

I used to drink gallons of it but went off it.

I prefer coffee anyway but sometimes will have a tenzig or similar. I see most caffeinated drinks as primarily functional, enjoyment comes second

LizzieBennett73 · 20/06/2024 13:30

Family member is addicted to it, 4 cans a day every single day. They've had a large part of their colon removed and now have a colostomy bag. Still drinking it even though warned by Dr's not to.

It's so toxic I've no idea why anyone sane would touch it.

I’ve never seen a toddler with an energy drink, but some kids in my child’s class (year 4) had to be explicitly banned from bringing Monster in for the lunchtime drink…
