TheArmadillo · 08/04/2008 20:45

I can't believe that
a) any of this is surprising

or b) that it counts as news.

tigermoth · 08/04/2008 20:45

guess what? there is baby shit on there too sometimes

the horror the horror

theUrbanNixie · 09/04/2008 11:10

i can't believe some of you carry Dettol in a spray bottle! i don't even use that stuff at home ffs! it's good for babies to have a bit of germy stuff in their systems - builds up their immunities! assuming your babies aren't licking the surfaces of the changing room i'm sure they'll be ok...

Why don't you change your baby on your lap.

Because it's really difficult, ime.

jumpingbeans · 09/04/2008 11:44

I think it's more difficult on a mat or the floor, all the wriggling and rolling around

theUrbanNixie · 09/04/2008 11:46

changing a little baby on your lap/in buggy is easy. changing active toddler on lap not so easy!!

Knickers - thought it was what you did as suggestions often have question marks after them. tis difficult to get intonation over on an internet forum!!

SueBaroo · 09/04/2008 11:48

I actually hermetically seal my children before we leave the house.

I've always used my own changing mat and take my own anti-bac handgel.
What else do you expect these are public facilities and not everyone has the same standard of hygiene!

snickersnack · 09/04/2008 12:48

Take my own changing mat, and whip their socks off and stick them on their hands if it looks a bit grubby. Both of mine seemed to find that entertaining enough not to try to pull the socks off in the time it took me to change them...

nearlynewmum · 09/04/2008 15:25

Great idea snickersnack!

Hulababy · 09/04/2008 15:30

I used to carry a travel changing mat with me as even 6 years ago changing facilities were dirty and gruby. If for any reason I didn't have one with me I used to wipe down with wet wipe before laying DD on it, and have been known to leave without using if really bad, prefering to change her in her pram or pushchair if necessary.

Monkeybird · 09/04/2008 15:33

oh fgs get over yourselves. I bet you all perch above the toilet as well in case you get VD from the seat.

I'm shocked at how afraid people are of a bit of dirt!

Carrying anti bac wipes??? What has the world come to? No wonder kids get so many bugs these days. No anti bac or bleach in my house and we haven't got the plague yet.

I used to change on my knee usually but would plonk them on a change mat no worries, unless there was a big pile of poo on there obv.

Some people don't use public toilets????? Do your children have iron bladders or do you just keep them in nappies forever, changing them in your mobile Intensive Care Unit whilst wearing full scrubs?

Oh I do worry about society today
