To tell you not to go to Costa coffee in the Trafford centre

We decided to stop for a little coffee pick me up in the Costa coffee in next at the Trafford centre yesterday.

Mum went to order and I got a table. Every table was covered in cups and plates and used tissues. I managed to find a fairly clean one and sat down.

To be clear it was open!

Then I noticed a lot of staff on the left hand side of the shop all looking at something under one of the booths and trying to get sorting into a cup.

I heard them say 'I don't think that's a mouse I think that's a rat I saw it on one of the tables back there and then it ran under here' and then they closed the coffee shop to try and catch the rat

They must have managed to catch it as it was back open and serving food about an hour later 🤢

Just go somewhere else if you find yourself in next and fancy a coffee!

Yes we were being unreasonable to go into a Costa inside a next and expect a good coffee but we didn't expect it to come with a side of large mouse / rat

Yanbu
Costa is foul. Horrible coffee, cakes and tea from an urn.

Have just seen this... my DB lives in Hackney and his local Gail's Bakery (Victoria Park) - last year him and his DS (5 years old) were out in the cafe's small garden when they noticed a large rat walking around... DS was apparently a bit Shock. So if they can get into a naice area they can get anywhere.

Don't go on the London Underground, Op! I've seen some huge Rats there.

I once pointed out an enormous one and a woman stood near us on the platform, screamed and fainted!

To be fair to the rats, I haven't seen any on the tube for ages. Did see one a few years ago, Victoria tube, jump onto the platform and then into a McD's bag for it's dinner.

Mice, yes... there's one station on the overground (ginger line) which at a certain time of night the platform is swarming with them.

They need station cats.

They could repurpose urban foxes

DP used to work for a waste contractor where his job was to collect bins from restaurants, cafes, takeaways etc.

When he was being shown the route and what to do, his colleague told him that he had to go in, give the bin a kick and step back to wait for the rats to run away Grin

Over lockdown and before it, at our local huge park - there were rats everywhere, my NDN who jogged there said it was disgusting. I once saw 2 rats on a path fighting over a length of clear plastic which had obvs once had food inside, quite amusing.

We were always taught never pick any container up without kicking it first and never grab anything that you can't see all sides of.

Rats are everywhere. You should see them playing on the trolleys at supermarkets.

TBF I kick my own compost bin before I lift the lid.
Although I never put cooked food in it I've seen the odd mouse/small rat run out before now.

@KobraChick @CharityBurbag

this is why it's unfair to single out one place. These centres are rife with them, it's not down to Costa.

it's also what makes me laugh when people get all airated over kids shoes in supermarket trollies. there are rats, foxes, birds in/on them all the time, they're not clean.

Yes I know, I'm not singling any place out.I worked in coffee shop and restaurants myself for years and wouldn't eat in half the places I worked.
