soshelpsos · 14/06/2024 22:37

It it so so so sore.

I struggle to eat and I catch it when I talk.

Been having an incredibly stressful time lately and have a few in my mouth, but this one wins the award for the worst.

What the hell can I do with it? Bonjela is so painful when it goes on I could scream.

I had a mouthful of ulcers like that last winter when I had pneumonia, I lived on jelly & ice cream because it was too painful to eat anything else. If it is spreading onto your lips, I can recommend Azulenal ointment from Amazon, it isn't cheap, but stopped my mouth pouring with blood every time I tried to eat.

Are you sure it is an ulcer? It looks like a cold sore as it looks like blisters

Agree. I get cold sores like this.

Serendity · 15/06/2024 02:10

I think that's worth a GP visit. You could try a pharmacist first but my feeling is some will say cold sores, some will say ulcers, and not all of them will recommend the right treatment.

Also recurrent multiple mouth ulcers might be worth a screening for coeliac disease. It's just a blood test.

That's not an ulcer, that's a cold sore.

Best thing for that is Sudocrem overnight. I swear by it now. In the daytime, use TCP instead.

Gingernaut · 15/06/2024 03:40

Anbesol liquid

Buy it over the counter - use a cotton bud to apply it

Agreed, it's, also a red flag for IBD.

WTF? You can barely see her teeth!

fieldsofbutterflies · 15/06/2024 06:27

It looks like a cold sore to me as well - they often flare up when you're run down or stressed.

PurpleSky300 · 15/06/2024 06:38

That is a cold sore, OP.

On mumsnet you really can always rely on there being at least one person to try and be nasty. @Bobloblaw84 did not disappoint lol

Thanks SO much everyone else. I'm going to get it looked at today. It has swollen my lip up even more this morning!

Genuine question though, if it's a coldsore, how could I have suddenly got the virus? I am a 42 year old married woman and haven't been out kissing random boys 🤣

The virus can lie dormant for years.

Or you could have caught it off one your DC who got it at school or similar.

Absolute bollocks.

How long have you had it?

Looks exactly like an ulcer to me.

sadmum27 · 15/06/2024 07:15

I don't think it's a cold sore op. It looks like an ulcer and it's in your inside lip (albeit spread quite far) rather than a cold sore which would usually be on the outside.

Cold sores can be inside your mouth too.

Lola2024 · 15/06/2024 07:32

It looks like a cold sore to me.

It’s all you cold sore deniers that spread it to babies, children and more intimate areas.

Get some Zovirax.

Get tested via a swab.

I’ve had patients deny deny deny having cold sores even when the test results say they have had them! The test is wrong apparently and the sores on their lips are just spots or ulcers. Never trust a cold sore denier.

Why?!

Google it!

Copperoliverbear · 15/06/2024 07:44

Could it possibly be a cold sore rather than an ulcer. X

pinkgin79 · 15/06/2024 07:48

Looks like a cold sore. Herpes virus can lie dormant for years. You may have shared a hand towel with someone who has them, or even touched an object then your mouth, after someone with one has touched. This is why hand hygiene and not touching your face is so important.

pantsalot · 15/06/2024 08:33

OP I agree that you should go and get it looked at. I have pernicious anaemia and have had ulcers whenever I am low. After a B12 injection the other things I have found help me with ulcers are folic acid tablets and eating a full head of broccoli.

soshelpsos · 15/06/2024 09:26

I'm seeing my (private) dentist at 11am this morning. I've got 6 other ulcers in my mouth and on my tongue.
I'll let you know what he says
