Fed up of Labour calling the VAT on fees a tax break! Ideologically this is so very unsound, we are talking about providing an education here.

Education is not taxed for a reason, in this country it should be a fundamental right.

As a nation vs the global competition we have this is totally a backwards step.

He could put 10p on income tax and raise billions!!! Foolish policy.

Such a misconception about Private School parents. This is an unfair policy.

I think the fact of the matter is that to
the vast majority of parents this makes no difference to them because private school isn’t an option to them and so in terms of voting it’ll make no difference to their choice of who they vote for.

there are so many more things in this country which need to be sorted out and this is just very low down the list of priorities for me when I think of things.

@Aladdinzane I think you’ll find a lot of children from South Asian backgrounds who go to Private schools (bar some of whose parents have come into professional jobs over the last 15 years from India (e.g. medicine or IT) come from fairly similar backgrounds to me.

In my family alone there is my cousin who is now a Pharmacist, his father has only just retired from shift work in a factory. My other cousin who is a top lawyer in a law firm, his father and mother did factory based jobs. they both now send their kids to Private school.

We had a sense of community growing up. Our mother’s supported each other, as families if one of us wanted to go into business (let’s say as my Pharmacist cousin did) we would pool resources and helped him buy his pharmacy. It is through this support to each other that we have grown successful and of course our parents knew education was the only way out. So although we all went to inner city comps we had a lot pressure/guilt almost that we were relied on to pull us out of poverty. We had to stay focused. I would be calling insurance companies for quotes when I was ten, I took on a parenting/adult role from an early age. Our parents would work shifts our Grandparents would take care of us.

As you can see why we would be traditional Labour voters. However I just can’t, I also don’t think it’s the right route for us as a country ideologically.

I’m going to bow out now as people just want to criticise me.

@LaceyLou82

You've thrown criticisms around repeatedly.

I seriously doubt people on factory labourers wages privately educated their children, even back in the 80s, sorry.
