How much would you pay for this bouquet?

I ordered a bouquet online to be sent to my DP's and my DM sent me a picture of them to say thank you.
I was extremely disappointed considering what I had spent and said so. Only then did my DM say that she hadn't thought they weren't all that thinking I had probably spent £x amount to which I then said I spent considerably more.
She did say that there was also a hydrangea head that didn't really go with the rest of the arrangement, so she put that elsewhere, and a ridiculous amount of foliage, some of which she used in another bunch of flowers she received and the rest ended up in the green bin as it was too much.
I'd really appreciate some thoughts from you lovely bunch (see what I did there! 😜) as to what you think I should have been charged for these flowers? 🙏🏻

Impossible to know, since a large chunk of it is in the bin. The original order or photo from the website would help.

PurplePolkaDot0 · 12/06/2024 11:46

If she trims the stems it would make it look better, they are too tall for the vase atm I’d say which is making it look more sparse than it is.

Actually maybe more than £50 now I look at it properly. There's about a dozen roses there plus other flowers and the hydrangea.

There are only 3 roses, 3 chrysanthemums, some lisianthus and delphiniums.

I think a lot of people are utterly clueless as to how much flowers cost. And the fact the florist is a business, not making bouquets out of the goodness of their own heart.

CocoapuffPuff · 12/06/2024 11:48

I see 3 large pink roses, but it looks like there are small white ones too. Am I misidentifying them?

FUBAR77 · 12/06/2024 11:48

30-35

Tractorqueen678 · 12/06/2024 11:48

I’d say £30 to 40

Yes, the white flowers are lisianthus.

Gabbsters · 12/06/2024 11:49

The white flowers look like lisianthus.

£30-40 although hard to say without knowing what it looked like before your mum took bits out.

Disappointedflowers · 12/06/2024 11:50

The vase was my DM's own and agree probably not the best flower arranger! There was no picture on the website, just said florist's choice and then could choose how much to spend.
I used them for Mother's Day and it was a really beautiful bouquet. Don't know if it made a difference that I was collecting it myself 🤔

Gosh they do look like roses. Can you tell i don't have flowers often?

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 12/06/2024 11:50

How much were they?

Disappointedflowers · 12/06/2024 11:51

£70. Plus delivery.

A couple of peonies would have been nice in that.

Sounds like your Mum chucked a lot of what you paid for out. What's in the vase is probably a £50 bouquet but I bet she's thrown out £20 worth. Be mad at her, not the florist.

What she threw out was a whole bunch of leaves. I don't think charging £20 extra for filler foliage is really on!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 12/06/2024 11:53

I think its just not looking its best because not all the flowers are open yet, in a few days it will look splendid!

TomeTome · 12/06/2024 11:53

I think it depends what she threw away. Mothers! Honestly this is exactly what mine would do.

CocoapuffPuff · 12/06/2024 11:54

Can you call the florist and say how disappointed you are with their "filling with foliage"? It's prob worth doing as you can at least say the previous order was wonderful but this just wasn't good enough.

DoreenonTill8 · 12/06/2024 11:55

What's the hydrangea in with? Foliage and flowers from this arrangement?

I would assume 'florists choice' means the same as restaurant specials: what they need rid of. If I chose to spend £70 on anything I'd want to know exactly what it was, if it was nice, if it's worth the money.

RuthW · 12/06/2024 11:56

£35

SnapdragonToadflax · 12/06/2024 11:56

She's thrown away a lot of what would make it look nice - the filler is necessary to set off the flowers and space the heads out. She's also put it in too small a vase, which is making it look sparse. And hydrangeas are expensive, especially as they're not quite in season yet.

That is a lot of money and I would say for the amount of actual flowers it does seem too much... but equally she hasn't done herself any favours.

ItsFuckingBoringFeedingEveryoneUntilYouDie · 12/06/2024 11:57

My local florist who I get myself a bouquet from each month would charge about £25-30 for that, including the foliage and hydrangea.

Verite1 · 12/06/2024 11:57

I would say £40-50 but it’s difficult to say when she has removed a lot of the bouquet and hasn’t arranged them very well!
