For a 11 year old to take their 2 siblings (6 and 7 years old) to school over a 1 mile walk away on their own?

Comedycook · 11/06/2024 18:07

No

sidsgranny · 11/06/2024 18:09

Depends what the route is like? Are there busy roads to cross?

Cazweb04 · 11/06/2024 18:10

A few sort of busy

Apileofballyhoo · 11/06/2024 18:10

No

Comedycook · 11/06/2024 18:12

Far too much responsibility for the 11 year old.

Alwaystired23 · 11/06/2024 18:16

No, my son is nearly 11, and I wouldn't feel it's fair to put him in the position of being responsible for a 6&7 year old. I wouldn't even ask my nearly 13 year old to be honest.

ginasevern · 11/06/2024 18:24

No, I wouldn't take the risk. I'd be constantly worried.

Roundroundthegarden · 11/06/2024 18:25

This is actually neglectful. Are you really asking this? So the 6 and 7 yr old start fighting and messing around and you expect an 11yo to keep them safe on the road? This place sometimes!

SoozyWoozy5 · 11/06/2024 18:27

Absolutely not!

TeaKitten · 11/06/2024 18:28

It’s a big obvious no. So why do you ask?

TheIceQween · 11/06/2024 18:29

Nope

Cazweb04 · 11/06/2024 20:00

Just thinking about doing this in September that's all. I got a 3 year old who's too big for his pushchair so can't walk all that way. I don't drive either

OP posts:
EmoIsntDead · 11/06/2024 20:01

God, no!

andallyourevergonnabeismean · 11/06/2024 20:11

No . You could get a toddler bike with a handle on the back?

Will 3 year old be doing nursery?

Floralnomad · 11/06/2024 20:14

No , it is not fair to make them responsible for 2 children of that age .

bergamotorange · 11/06/2024 20:16

No, not ok. You need something else for the toddler if he can't walk - a scooter perhaps.

can you buy a secondhand buggy that will fit your toddler?

get a micro scooter and be a parent.

Jesus wept.

You’ll have to find another solution - bigger buggy or pull along scooter type of thing. You can’t put that responsibility for keeping a 6 and 7 year old safe onto an 11 year old.

NuffSaidSam · 11/06/2024 20:17

Get the three year old a scooter. Or build up their walking ability now.

feathermucker · 11/06/2024 20:18

Totally unfair on the 11 year old to have that responsibility.

Ponoka7 · 11/06/2024 20:18

Google scooters with parent handles and see if any of those suit. There's no way that you can go with that plan.

Crumpetsssss · 11/06/2024 20:18

You can let the 11 year old walk or cycle alone.

You need to manage the others yourself:
bus, buggy, bikes, scooter…?

TheHorneSection · 11/06/2024 20:19

No. The school wouldn’t be happy if they found out either. I know it’s difficult but look at getting your youngest on a scooter you can pull, or a different pushchair that’s bigger. The three wheelers tend to do well with pre-schoolers.

Lancrelady80 · 11/06/2024 20:27

No, and school would definitely be noticing and logging as a safeguarding issue.

Get a trike (with parent handle) for the 3 year old.
