One leg in one leg out is a sound strategy to cool down in bed?

You get into bed you're hot, you take the cover off you're cold. Natural solution half in half out right?

It cools a person down, but I can’t actually sleep that way. I need weight on my entire body evenly distributed

this is why I have cooling sheets, an open weave cooling weighted blanket, cooling pajamas, and a small fan that blows directly on me while I sleep.

CleftChin · 06/06/2024 19:06

Have you seen the adverts for a gadget specially designed to blow cold air under your duvet? Facebook must have been listening to me complaining about waking at 3am sweaty, because it's been following recently

buffyslayer · 06/06/2024 19:09

Cat agrees one leg is best

I've had one foot out for the last 10+ years, it seems to be the only way I can regulate my bed / sleeping temperature.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 06/06/2024 19:27

I do do that but actually the correct decision is to remove the duvet and use a sheet

PeppermintPorpoise · 06/06/2024 19:40

The monster attack risk is too high for me. I sleep under a flat sheet when its hot.

Mouldyfoodhelp · 06/06/2024 21:31

Sorry suddenly got busy but yes is a discussion where one is half in half out and one thinks it's bonkers and you're either all in or all out.

The way to keep the monsters at bay is cheesy 🧀 feet

But what about the monsters under the bed? They only grab what isn't under the duvet!

You raise an excellent point.

BuggeryBumFlaps · 06/06/2024 21:51

I can't sleep without something covering me, so I'm a half in half out but with a sheet. But I also have to have a quilt to rest my leg on.

Cat agrees one leg is best

Legs or any other bare flesh peeping out from under the bedclothes are an invitation to my cats to attack it. I don't need monsters under the bed with them around

Onelifeonly · 06/06/2024 21:58

Yes I do that but a bit later I get cold again so cover up. Sometimes cycle through that a few times in one night......

OMG, you have it all totally sorted!

justasking111 · 06/06/2024 22:12

I push the duvet aside put a throw over me with my feet and lower legs sticking out, cool down very quickly. Then one leg under duvet. I wake up in the morning covered up and can't recall when I did that ever

SauvignonBlonk · 06/06/2024 22:14

I’m a two duvets and pyjamas during the summer person, extra blankets in the winter person. Too hot doesn’t apply.
I feel left out :-)

Roryhon · 06/06/2024 22:18

The best way is to simply push your partner completely out of the bed, then you can roll from the cool side to the hot side whenever it suits.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 06/06/2024 22:20

Not when you have a cat!

sarahc336 · 06/06/2024 22:21

My preferred method for hot nights too 😁

I was gunna say!!

Snappers3 · 06/06/2024 22:25

Feet peeking out does a lovely cooling job here.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 06/06/2024 22:26

How hot is it over there, that you're having this conversation? I'm forecast 6 degrees tonight!

Sev3nWonders · 06/06/2024 22:30

This is my method too but I have Raynauds so have to time it just right or my feet end up too cold and I have to start the Hokey Cokey all over again even in the summer 🕺

I never thought about the monsters until now tbh and as I lay here I’m nervous of a claw or finger creeping up over the bottom of the bed grabbing my toes 😱 thanks for that @sparepantsandtoothbrush !!

RaininSummer · 06/06/2024 22:30

Once you get menopausal, the actual temperature is pretty irrelevant. Legs out legs in, duvet on, duvet off, flip flop from cool side to cool side and cooling pillow mat thing is my method.

Tinks15 · 06/06/2024 22:30

Yes always do this & I always have to have a cold pillow

Isitisit · 06/06/2024 22:33

Feet out is the only way!

Bluevelvetsofa · 06/06/2024 22:37

I haven’t yet discarded bed socks it’s so cold here.
