I write excellent formal letters/emails that get attention - what job could I do?

I know it's a weird ask, but I'm thinking of all my strengths as I'm desperately trying to pivot.

I write really articulate, attention-grabbing emails/letters. As a result, I've secured significant amount of compensation for people, had institutions change their policies, and secured press coverage for events. I'm articulate, pithy and not afraid of confrontation.

I've mostly written letters/emails on behalf of friends and family. I'm wondering if there is a job that could utilise this quality?

Any thoughts?

Correspondence manager is an actual job. A lot of ministers and CEOs will have someone who manages responses to all the letters they get and organises writing them out..

Wow, this sounds like something I'd really enjoy. How the hell do I find out about this?

I have only worked in law firms so this is my knowledge is limited to this sector and company.

The bigger law firms are continually pitching for work. It could be to gain a spot or stay on the panel of a big client or pitching for a specific piece of work. The marketing department will put together the pitch documents, which conform to the clients' specifications for the pitch. It would involve using some stock language, gathering credentials from lawyers on their previous work, liaising with various other departments to collate the information required and put it together in attractive branded brochure.

Your excellent writing and communication skills will come in very handy. You often have to tease the information out from the very busy lawyers so if you can build a relationship and understand their practice and business, it is easier. If you are organised and keep the templates and stock language at hand to pull out, also great.

It should pay reasonably well, I am guessing 70,000 for someone with experience.

I was going to say PR but you already did this. I think you were in wrong sector, financial PR pays very well. Maybe try to get into that, all big finance companies have large teams doing this.,

I was in the arts! I love the arts but it was draining because it was a total bunfight for a diminishing level of coverage. Financial sector - I don't know.

@Olete32
I did this for a government department. ^^

I know someone who wrote speeches for MP’s. She worked in Parliament.
She is now writes brochures and proposals for global organisations. I think she subscribes to a journal where she finds vacancies for her kind of work. Very successful, works from home.

Thank you for this considered post. What is the job title for this role?

Write posts on Mumsnet, and then write this post when you start getting loads of comments

This sounds SOOO perfect. Can I DM you for more info about what you did? And for a link to your other colleague?

These are good ideas (not debt collection, that makes me queasy).

I do like the idea of using my articulation for justice - Erin Brockovich stylee - but it's just the money is dire

Funding proposals might be interesting. Is that actually a job?

Universities and research institutions employ quite a few people to pursue funding applications. Look at jobs ac.uk and do a keyword search. Example:

Research Grants Manager at NBI Partnership

😂I could do a much better job than existing PM (the bar is ridiculously low).

Thanks everyone, you've really helped lift my mood.

@Olete32 Look on Linkedin or civil service job sites. All goverment departments will have correspondence managers.

Michael Page Policy is a good recruitment agency for these types of jobs.

Thank you for this considered post. What is the job title for this role?

Unfortunately, it is a bit of a specialised role which tends to sit within Marketing or Business Development, so there is no real job title for it. It may just be a general title like Business Development Officer/Executive/Manager, so read the job spec. If it is a smaller firm, you may also have to other other PR/Marketing-type stuff.

The people I worked with who had these roles at different law firms hold the following titles Proposal Manager, Head of Bids, Business Development and Marketing Manager/Executive.

Several people have suggested this already but Trust & Foundations Fundraising Officer for a university or charity would be perfect for you:
