Tesco complaint

Scenuc · 02/06/2024 17:16

I asked a member of staff at Tesco for some help and she was very rude and aggressive. How can I complain to Tesco? I can't find a contact form or email address. It needs to be addressed as she has been rude to others. Thanks.

Would have been better to complain at the time to the manager 🤷‍♀️

NeverEnoughPants · 02/06/2024 17:19

If you Google the store you'll get a phone number

Can you not speak to a manager in store?. Any complaint you make to customer service is going to be handed back to be dealt with at store level anyway.

Scenuc · 02/06/2024 17:41

Thanks for the replies. I did not think at the time to get the manager as the incident threw me off. I contacted Tesco WhatsApp and they said the store will investigate but customer service cannot advise the outcome due to data protection. I think that is bad they won't say if the manager investigated. I probably won't hear anything and she will get away with it. I won't shop there again.

She will "get away with it" anyway as it's her word against yours.

I know you are right. I will shop elsewhere.

Don't waste your time. I had terrible experience with LIDL. I had all evidence. Spent 3 weeks on emails and calls.

Play the long game. Get a job in Tesco wait until they let you on the tannoy.

Willmafrockfit · 02/06/2024 20:59

Spaghettihoops1 · 02/06/2024 21:02

I always WhatsApp Tesco if I have issues

rwalker · 02/06/2024 21:07

I’m presuming it will be your word against her so if the did follow it up they can certainly mention it to her but I think that as far as it will go difficult to discipline off hearsay
so don’t expect anything to happen but it is worth complaining as if your not the first it will build a picture

Years ago I was able to get a response from Tesco customer service centre when 2 staff members were aggressive and mocking myself and my friend so I complained.

Yet this time Tesco said it gets investigated but due to data protection you don't get a response from customers services or the store manager. Which means they don't give 2 hoots and don't investigate. Why complain if you get no response.

I don't complain often but am finding retail staff are getting ruder to customers without a valid reason. I can see why people shop online.

There are cameras everywhere. They will be investigated, but your behaviour will be too. While I am never going to condone rudeness, I have worked in customer service and I am unconvinced that this woman wasn’t reacting to the WAY you asked for help. In most cases, if please, thank you and a respectful tone is utilized, people will generally return the favour.

Customers are getting more aggressive to retail staff. When I worked in retail the amount of daily abuse I got and others for some things beyond our control is disgusting. A new law is coming where any abuse to staff will now be against the law and will be taken more seriously if a staff member reports a abusive customer. I no longer work in retail and now work for a college.

spuddy4 · 03/06/2024 04:33

You've had a run of bad luck with staff in your Tesco.....

Of course they can't break GDPR just so you can get your kicks knowing what happened. It's very entitled behaviour to expect otherwise.

FutureBillionaire · 03/06/2024 04:49

What exactly are you hoping for? How would it undo what’s been done to know that a woman, possibly with children to feed, has got into trouble at the job she so desperately needs. If that’s what you need to make you feel good and vindicated then you are the one that likely has the bigger problem here.

From my experience, many people cannot differentiate between genuine rudeness and not hearing the answer they were hoping for. Did she call you names? Did she swear at you? That would be rude. Maybe she couldn’t help you because of a physical limitation (for example if you asked for help to reach something), or because she was involved in something more urgent (for example if she is the first aider and someone needed first aid). But, as usual, I suspect there is more to the story and your actions likely played some part in what happened.
