I want to go a pearl ash silver colour.

No hairdresser can do it! I’ve come out of a 6 hour session with Barbie blonde hair!! Again!! I do not want this colour. I’m about to walk into Boots and buy a brown box dye I’m so fed up.

It looks like there is some red in your hair? That might be why you aren’t getting the result you want. Although the hairdresser should have told you that.

No that’s just my face 😅🙈

You can't go platinum in one sitting. I have several friends this colour and for all them it took the best part of a year to finally get to where they wanted it.

The amount of times you need it done will depend on your original colour and if you try to go too fast you'll damage your hair.

So for expecting it in one sitting YABU.

Hairdresser should have explained this to you though.......

Where did I say this was the first time I’ve done this? I can assure you it’s absolutely not.

I would give my eye teeth for the hair in your original photo OP.
Your desired colour? Not so much 🫣

Not really the point though

Imagine you asked for, went in and paid for the colour you wanted and got the colour you didn't
No idea why people keep commenting on colour choice

tryingsomethingnew · 01/06/2024 16:43

Sorry OP, did you say...where are you? Can recommend in London

TinyBag · 01/06/2024 16:45

I’d go back and speak to him again. Ash is not silver or pearly

But your colour looks lovely, ashy blonde not Barbie blonde at all. Why do you want grey hair?

I think the OP's first picture has almost pinkish lowlights. I can see why she isn't happy.

Hardly the point, is it? I also don't get why you'd give your eye teeth for that weird candy blonde.

FleaDog · 01/06/2024 16:52

The grey hair you are after is lovely, and what you have isnt the same.

What area are you in, Op?

Bunnyannesummers · 01/06/2024 16:52

Lee Stafford one shot toners! Use three, really thickly distributed over your hair. They heat up, so don’t panic but they give a great silver toner.
There’s also a few silver shampoos in that range that are great - the ones in the silver bottle are the best, the blue ones can make you lilac.
Also try bleach London!

I really don’t like the op pic. It’s boring as hell

no offence op

I’m older than you but wanted the sort of grey that you do. It’s apparently not possible with my natural hair colour.

TinyBag · 01/06/2024 16:57

This was mine recently, it’s whiter now

Grimbleton · 01/06/2024 17:03

Did you ask your hairdresser why it’s not the colour you asked for? I’ve also had silver grey hair like your second photo, but it took a couple of sessions to get there even though I’m about 40% grey (white!), with the first session being about 6 hours. How much has your hair lifted today? Perhaps that’s the best your hair could manage from one session.

littlebox · 01/06/2024 17:10

£300? Jeez, I'd be pretty pissed off about that.
I've done this colour myself and it wasn't easy, it didn't work the last time I attempted it, but I also haven't had any training and it cost me less than 20 quid.
Can you at least leave a bad review? For that money I would expect what I asked for, or a proper explanation beforehand of what he could achieve if try at weren't possible.

So what it's a chat forum I'm just sharing my opinion. Unclench!
I repeat, who wants grey hair <runs>

Grey hair can be stunning.

Jourl · 01/06/2024 18:19

Hey OP, interestingly I've just come back from a colour consult as I want to go ash blonde too. Hairdresser advised me that it would be very difficult to get my hair there because of how "warm" my hair is naturally. (She also advised against it because of the amount of maintenance it would then need). Did the hairdresser advise you it would be possible during the consult? If so, tbh I'd have expected them to get you there?

umberelladay · 01/06/2024 18:40

To go grey, you need to first bleach to white. I'm guessing that your hair can't take that, no matter how many sessions, or rounds of bleach.

Watch hair buddha on you tube, it's not achievable for most people.

Chanelbasketballandchain · 01/06/2024 18:43

Nothing worst than leaving a hairdresser feeling so down, I sympathise

but whatever you do please don't buy a box dye and do it yourself! It will make it 10 times worst.

I'd ask for recommendations on local groups too, unless you are willing to travel to get the perfect colour?

It’s not possible to bleach hair to white without turning it into chewing gum.

It’s needs to be lifted to level 10 and toned twice to get what the OP wants.

BurntBroccoli · 01/06/2024 19:42

I prefer what you got!
The other colour looks dull and lifeless.

He said my hair is now lifted to 9/10 but I need it to be 10.5.

This confused me as I thought 10 was the highest point? But I’m no hairdresser

Sympathies, op. No way should you have been charged that much without knowing what you were going to get!

I'm also looking to go from blonde to platinum, found a hairdresser who can do it - know that it's a process over months too - but now they seem to be backing out of the plan & losing interest. Just don't know what to do.

Bolarpear · 01/06/2024 19:55

I wanted to move to more silvery blonde for years OP, and it was a long journey. Finally I'm with a hairdresser now who has managed to nail the colour (over time) with foils and a silver toner.

Fanola no yellow shampoo is brilliant at toning down warm tones quickly though
