I can definitely see it doing that too, but I do think some might take a step back and think. The 'They' is such a massive group that it's impossible to predict the behaviour afterwards.

examples of the "they"

Yep, delighted! Sadly he can still run for the Presidency.

Doesn't it show what a morally bankrupt society it is that would still enable a convicted criminal to lead the country, and to have been voted in by its people. What was it - ah yes, God Bless America. They're going to need to pray very very hard!

and yes @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g It is good news indeed 👍

Willyoujustbequiet · 30/05/2024 22:26

Absolutely delighted.

I dare to think there is hope for America yet. Well done those brave men and women of the jury.

I hope they are given protection of the highest order, they're gonna need it!

As Daniel Gault shares above watch YouTube Jordan Klepper's, with The Daily Show, interactions with MAGA nuts. Many have no idea what they're talking about, literally, or what's really happening. Head in the sand, or worse how clueless people are, and therefore gullible. I've interacted with some of them as I unfortunately live in a more conservative area. They get their news from one source and if you ask questions they either get defensive, or have some far right explanation. They refuse to read/listen to ANY other sources, even if it comes out that peopleon the right admit a storyisnot factual. It's scary and sad. I'm sick of everyone. I wish they'd all shut up and do their job.

I don’t really see the appeal of Trump, even to the right-wing lunatic fringe. He’s utterly charmless. He’s the total opposite of a magnetic demagogue. He can barely string a coherent sentence together.

Considering the electorate who voted Trump in last time can't string a coherent sentence together, they voted for the person they most strongly identify with, who they believe speaks for them. His sentence construction has been likened to that of an 8 year old, go figure!

YesItsMe44 · 31/05/2024 04:29

I misread, @therealcookiemonster shared some Jordan Klepper videos.

Biden is senile, he isn't even making sense anymore. That's a fact, there is plenty of evidence.

The Hunter Biden laptop scandal is incredibly interesting, and shows how deeply corrupt that family is. If you don't know anything about it, go find out. Start with the journalist who uncovered it.

In comparison, sleeping with someone and then paying them off is nothing in comparison with what The laptop scandal revealed.

But why isn't it taken seriously? Strange.

I cannot stand Trump. That started way, way back when he had that stupid TV show. Never watched it, but the commercials were way too irritating. He confuses scruples for scabies and is proud of not having any.

That said, I find it quite humorous when I see Trump flayed alive for paying off Stormy Daniels and lying about it, yet excuse Clinton, who suborned perjury, among his many sins. Trump will be tried for inciting the Capitol uprising, but people scoff at taking seriously the things Democrat leaders said that helped incite the "Summer of Love" that resulted in deaths, destruction, attempted murders of dozens of LEO. Trump has done nasty stuff to people, no doubt. Biden destroyed most of a man's life because of lies he told. Trump has lied about his accomplishments. So has Biden. Trump had extramarital affairs that were tried by the press. Someone accused Biden and told people when it happened, and she was nothing but vilified for it.

If it wasn't for double standards, many in the USA would have no standards at all.

Either call it all out and punish them all, or let it all go, and we can continue to be stupid.

With the choices being either Aa criminal, scuzbucket and azzhat or Ba dementia ridden puppet patient, scuzbucket and azzhat; we already ARE the laughing stock! Me--I am just crying out of frustration and wondering where the real candidates are hiding. If Trump and Biden are the USA's choices, we are one hell of a fucked up nation. We need a capable and honest third party, but neither the Rs or Ds will ever, ever allow one to get established here. Many have tried, none have succeeded.

Not sure why A: a criminal, scuzbucket and azzhat have a line through them, as they should not. At all. Ever. It must have been the -- after the A and B that caused it. Oops!

Sorry.

That's an insult to 8 year olds tbh. He is like someone who was fashioned by aliens as their best guess of what humans are like. I keep thinking there must be something there that I'm not seeing, but I've never once seen anything that convinced me otherwise. If it has in fact all been some sort of act, someone give him an Olivier Award or something.

when trump wins the election, the culpability will lie just as much with the Democrats for not getting a proper candidate in place

I can hope and pray neither candidate gets a vote? Then maybe Mickey Mouse or Snoopy will win....both better choices.

Me-I will write myself in for my vote because my conscience won't allow me to vote for the "lesser of two weevils" any longer. Or maybe go with Mickey since Minnie would be quite the fashionable first mouselady.

I know. But that is democracy after all. As much as it's funny to laugh at them (just talking about myself there), it's incredibly important to get to the bottom of their batshittery. And try to reach out to them in a way they might be receptive to at least. To open a channel for actual debate on policies that actually do exist.

Trump sounds egotistical, unhinged.

Biden sounds senile. like ACTUALLY senile, not in the exaggerated sense, but in a real description of someone suffering from Alzheimer's.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=a2Bvkr164Zs&pp=ygUUQmlkZW4gcGFuZGVtaWMgb2JhbWE%3D

there's one clip

Both sides have no taste in candidates.

My favorite Biden gaffes are when he reads the teleprompter. As it is.
For example: Today we honor the men and women who sacrificed their lives for our country. Pause.
And he says the word, "Pause".

The other was when he was talking once and was reading the prompter and actually said. "Stop. Repeat."

Then we have our ex-President who opens his mouth and words come out, but it's like a game show trying to figure out what he is saying. Then there were his tornado drawings, Kansas City Chiefs...where and other such epic fails.

The US electoral system is not entirely that of a true democracy. Their electoral college system is not based on the majority of the votes. It was originally set up to protect the rights of slave owners and ensure the wealth remains in the hands of the minority. What is being seen now can be said to be the tyranny of the minority.

Nanaof1 · 31/05/2024 05:19

It is bonkers that 'the most advanced' nation I the world (debatable) with the largest weapons has an option of only these two to head it.

BUT, out of these two shit options.. I reckon Trump is better.

I seriously do not know what is wrong with us. Somewhere, in this country is someone that would be a perfect President. Neither far right nor far left. Sadly, they're probably not rich or well-connected and these days, those seem to be a must. Someone who could take the GOOD values of each party and work with both sides of the aisle, and not able to be bought and paid for by lobbyists.
A person with honesty, integrity and a commit to do what is best for the citizens; not some lobbyist, crony or criminal.
We need a hero! I pray for our country.

I've been a huge fan of the West Wing for over a decade, and I still don't have a complete handle on their system tbh. But from what I can gather, cross party connections are important when it comes to actually getting laws passed/judges appointed etc. So I suppose there is some degree of meeting halfway necessary. And it's probably wise to apply this to the electorate in general. I never understand why they don't have more parties muses

EasternEcho · 31/05/2024 05:29

@DanielGault The meeting in the middle is necessary only if the party is actually interested in governing, which the Republicans are not. They have become the party of "no", in the sense they simply obstruct every liberal iniative. A good example is the recent immigration law they voted down, despite having helped write it. They know that if they do pass it, they won't have an immigration issue to rile up their base with. That's all they care about Now that they've got the US supreme court stacked, whatever laws they don't like, they just take it up there and get it reversed, like Roe v. Wade. It's just a mess.

Not the first President to bè dodgy. Everyone loves JFK but his whole family were dodgy. I wonder how many women he had to pay to keep quiet, not that I condone anything like that.
I dont know about American politics but was Trump a bad president or is it that people just dont like him personally.

It's the fact that he's incapable of basic speech tbh (for me, from abroad). He doesn't seem to have any discernible talent. He completely lacks any hint of charisma. Obviously he's not the first randy fucker to president but at least some of the rest of them could carry out their jobs vaguely competently. When they weren't shagging around 😂

mellongoose · 31/05/2024 06:12

America has become ridiculous and Putin/Xi are taking advantage, so it's not even funny.
These two clowns need to step aside and let two fresh and sensible candidates step forward. The fate of Western democracy literally depends on it.
