Lift a few inches form the floor with arms around the waist - yes . Unconscious person from the floor - no.

Context. Lifting a dead weight off the ground is different from lifting a standing person by holding them around the waist and lifting with your legs.

I know I CAN lift an adult person up. As a carer though it's a very hard don't do it from my employer. Equally I CAN carry a screaming thrashing 10 year old (SEN) but we do use 2 of us for safety of the child and us.

I’m 9.5 stone and my average size husband can pick me up fairly easily, as can my 16 year-old son who is skinny but slightly heavier than me. But that is with my cooperation- if I was unconscious on the floor, I imagine it would be a lot more difficult for them to pick me up. I can also still pick up my son- but with difficulty!
