DS just gave me this picture. I know there is quite a lot of variation but how old do you think is the child who drew this?

I would say 4/5.

Sleepytiredyawn · 01/06/2024 10:51

He’s done the best he can bless him. Not everyone is good at drawing and every childs strengths are very different.

My son is 7 and if he put in some effort his may be as good as this pic. When my daughter wants me to draw a cat for her, it looks like a cat I drew as a child, I’ve always been rubbish at it.

pollymere · 01/06/2024 10:51

I'm just sad that someone has taught them that birds are Ms in the sky...

I'd say a focused 4-5 y/o.

@374jtwqj, put us out of our misery! How old IS the child who drew this? What is the purpose of the post?

7?

Glitterblue · 01/06/2024 12:04

It’s very similar to the picture one of my piano pupils drew for me and she’s 5 so I’m going to say 5.

Clawedino · 01/06/2024 12:05

5 but I have no experience with this! My little one is only 2.

Thanks, I didn't spot their response in the many pages of replies.

There's a button you can click on that only shows the ops posts and it was literally answered on her second post...

You can't do this on the app which is SO annoying.

4

It’s been 12 pages…

Yazzi · 02/06/2024 08:12

My theory is everyone said "4" because there's a 4 drawn in the middle of it which subliminally influenced them lol

Santina · 06/06/2024 13:00

My son is 34, and it's better than he could do 🤣

OneTC · 06/06/2024 13:07

Between 6 and 47 years old

@VioletMountainHare thank you for that. I honestly have no idea what level his friends are at but it did make me sad that he felt so bad about it. I obviously told him it was lovely. Will also borrow the suggestion from PP about discussing specific elements of the painting or piece of writing rather than going with a simple 'nice drawing'.

"I love that you used brown so carefully inside the lines for the dog!"

"I love that you kept going until you finished"

"Are you proud of you? I'm proud of you!

"You held your pen so gently, I can see that in your drawing!"

"Can you help me with my drawing? I need a little help with the (insert something here) and yours is such a great shape!"

You should get a "My Little DaVinci" frame, any drawings or artwork at all go straight in the frame up on the wall and he'll start to feel proud when he sees you and others enjoying his artwork so much.

Good luck!

I guessed age6 /yr1 before reading your thread. It's bang on for y1 imo (EYFS/Y1 teacher).

oldskoolchick · 06/06/2024 13:15

5/6

Madamum18 · 06/06/2024 16:50

I havent read updates, justblooked at picture. I would say 5 years

cherish123 · 06/06/2024 17:03

I would have said 6.
The animal up the tree is quite detailed and more mature than the animal on the ground.

Jacesmum1977 · 08/06/2024 20:43

It’s perfectly fine for a 6 year old

Mouswife · 08/06/2024 20:44

6/7

I didn't know being 'behind' in drawing was a thing as such, I certainly wouldn't worry about it too much either way.

with handwriting it can kick in a little later

Yeah I'm 53 and still can't bloody draw to save my life
