Shops are not playgrounds

Wish some parents would understand that shops are not playgrounds! Kids play with the toys, swing on the barriers, run around etc.

This is obviously more an issue when the schools are on holiday.

@greenpolarbear you need to get with times. I think you are describing 85 plus.

65 years olds I know are tech savvy and a lot are still in work or off on some fabulous breaks. They are far too busy to spend three hours chatting check out person

60 and prefer to scan my own!

Such a horrible ageist post. DH is over 65 and all he wants to do is get the tedious supermarket shop over with as soon as possible. I’m 63 and believe it or not I pay with my phone and have my club card on there too.

So, to extrapolate, in your world:

The elderly need to be quiet- not even a tut.
They mustn't stop when walking round a supermarket- (what if they are disabled? Come to think of it, are the disabled allowed in supermarkets in your world?)
They mustn't ask a question of a member of staff- is there an age limit when this is permitted? Because I'm not elderly and sometimes I do. Or I don't buy things. Because I can't find them. Or I need information)
They mustn't buy heavy things - again
They mustn't pay cash
They mustn't use gift cards
They mustn't make mistakes
They shouldn't be allowed in the same spaces as other people.

I won't evoke Godwin by saying you sound like a Nazi. But you're clearly very ageist.

How despicable you sound. Hope your presumably elderly parents are proud of their creation.

It's basic human decency to not inconvenience other people when it's completely avoidable. Not sure why that's so hard to understand.

There's a big difference between stopping a member of staff to ask a question as you're going around the supermarket, and holding up a massive queue full of people to ask at the checkout after already having a 3 hour long conversation with a poor staff member who is also getting stressed by the number of people waiting and doesn't care that Betty is coming to visit you on Wednesday.

Maybe your life is so boring you like to kill time waiting in queues for no reason, mine isn't.

Believe me its not just in shops! I am a flight attendant and people allow their kids to behave like feral animals on planes as well! Running up and down aisles, in and out of the galleys! Jumping up and down on seats while pulling on the passenger in fronts seat, kicking the seat in front. They allow them to chuck food and rubbish everywhere and even scribble all over the aircraft!

Yes, I have just some back from holiday where I experienced exactly as you describe. A child of about 10 sitting behind me (his parent had buggered off elsewhere) kicking the back of my seat, standing on the armrest, slamming the seat tray up and down, watching his ipad at full blast with no headphones etc etc. When we got off, the mess he left was unbelieveable, empty crisp packets and crisps and biscuits all over the floor.

To be fair, his dad was just as bad for the 10 mins he was sat there - yelling up the aise to his wife/partner sat further back, on the phone to his mate during the safety demonstration, walking up the aisle during takeoff when the seatbelt signs were on (had to be told to sit down by the flight attendance), stood up to get his case from the overhead lockers during landing - you get the picture.

I would gladly pay extra for adult only flights!!
