Told to leave spa area

Today I went to a smallish spa and the big (and only selling point) is the infinity pool.

Me and my friend were the only two in it until two other women joined. Maybe 5 minutes later a couple came in and one of the women turned to us and said “we should go and leave the couple to it”

Aibu to think being a couple doesn’t give you priority and neither should you ask other adults to leave when you have zero authority

So no one ‘told you to leave’, a random fellow spa user made a vague remark reflecting some arbitrary rule she’d internalised?

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 26/05/2024 11:16

I’d have asked her why on earth she thought we should leave them to it? Did she really think there was going to be imminent hanky-panky?
And I’d have stayed put.

What's an infinity pool?

One it appears that you can't stay in forever. Ironically!

Sensible answer now - it's one that the edge sort of blends into the sky/sea so it looks like it goes on forever (but doesnt)

Soonenough · 26/05/2024 11:18

Who did the woman think she was ? The pool police ? ? . Adults do not get to tell other adults what to do . Let her leave if she wants . The couple is none of your concern.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 26/05/2024 12:28

“Why, are they going to start shagging?”

dicokno · 26/05/2024 14:00
  1. Did you leave?
  2. You weren't told to leave. Some random woman suggested you leave.
  3. How big was the pool? Enough room for 6 people?
  4. In the future, "We're fine thanks" is all you need to say.
AnotherCountryMummy · 26/05/2024 14:28

Leave them to what?! A bit of heavy petting in the pool?

How weird 🤣

I would have stayed till I wrinkled like a prune but I’m petty like that.,

Haha yes! I'd be a petty prune right along with you.

You've paid your money just like they have, so no, they don't get to say anything.

FTPM1980 · 26/05/2024 16:25

Strange that the best thing about a spa is the pool....that's usually the least unique thing.
Did this infinity pool have an amazing view?
Is it outside? (If not what's the point?) And was the weather good?
I mean they look good in photos but unless the view and weather is amazing its just a pool.

So you had been in there the longest, i fibd sitting in the pool totallyboring and only do it for a break between sauna sessions.....and were you hogging the infinity edge? Or the jacuzzi?

MAYBE they knew this couple? Maybe he was about to propose?

Havinganamechange · 26/05/2024 20:28

No way I would have left the pool, how ridiculous.

Jeannie88 · 26/05/2024 22:08

Wtf really? What if you and your friend were a couple? If said couple wanted to be lovey dovey then private hot tub and room, spa is paid for by all users. Ridiculous, I would've asked why. 🙄

CharlotteBog · 26/05/2024 23:12

Leave the couple to what?

Whatinthedoopla · 27/05/2024 00:28

There is spa etiquette, but this would likely be 'not to use one section for your entire stay in the spa' so that others also have a chance to use it. No way do couples get priority in a spa.

What's an infinity pool?

A swimming pool where the water flows over one or more edges, creating the visual effect of water with no boundary

countdowntonap · 27/05/2024 08:04

@FTPM1980 MAYBE they knew this couple? Maybe he was about to propose?
That was my first thought too.

Jack80 · 27/05/2024 15:48

I would have stayed if there was no time slot. Two pool is for all

OneTC · 27/05/2024 15:53

KimberleyClark · 26/05/2024 05:23

A pool where the water flows over one edge giving the illusion of infinity.

I was imagining a donut shape 😅

JWhipple · 27/05/2024 22:05

Psychoticbreak · 25/05/2024 20:28

I would have to be removed in a body bag.

😄😄😄😄😄

JWhipple · 27/05/2024 22:07

CostelloJones · 25/05/2024 21:43

I would be in there until I dissolved and they had to change the water
