Told to leave spa area

Imitationgame · 25/05/2024 19:54

Today I went to a smallish spa and the big (and only selling point) is the infinity pool.

Me and my friend were the only two in it until two other women joined. Maybe 5 minutes later a couple came in and one of the women turned to us and said “we should go and leave the couple to it”

Aibu to think being a couple doesn’t give you priority and neither should you ask other adults to leave when you have zero authority

OP posts:
WigglyVonWaggly · 25/05/2024 21:45

“We won’t be leaving, thanks” is what I’d say!

CostelloJones · 25/05/2024 21:49

“I’m ok thanks, I was just about to pee” 😂

Purplecatshopaholic · 25/05/2024 21:53

Err, say what now? I hope you didn’t actually leave? What a batshit thing to say - and even more batshit if you did it…

rwalker · 25/05/2024 21:56

I would if only moved it there was limited space and it was a bit crowded
because wouldn’t want to hog it if it people were waiting

but I would big thought it could hold more than 5 people

ForestDad · 25/05/2024 21:59

Maybe the couple were being too friendly with each other for the stranger who was making a PA comment aimed at them?

Testina · 25/05/2024 22:01

She might have been making conversation. She certainly wasn’t telling you to leave!

Eggmoobean · 25/05/2024 22:04

“ oh bless you! Off you go then”
then I would have stayed.

fieldsofbutterflies · 25/05/2024 22:13

You weren't told to leave at all Confused

Namechangedmama · 25/05/2024 22:19

CostelloJones · 25/05/2024 21:49

“I’m ok thanks, I was just about to pee” 😂

😂😂

Elieza · 25/05/2024 22:33

I'd have laughed and said "no thanks. I've paid and I'm staying. The couple can get a room if they want privacy. You can leave if you want to."

SD1978 · 25/05/2024 22:39

Nope and nope. Everyone is entitled to be there and what the hell do they need 'privacy' for- if I've paid I'm getting my full use from it!

TwattyMcFuckFace · 25/05/2024 22:41

Why is MN so full of these threads lately?

I mean threads with really scant information from OPs? It's like pulling bloody teeth.

OpusGiemuJavlo · 25/05/2024 22:41

Aibu to think being a couple doesn’t give you priority and neither should you ask other adults to leave when you have zero authority

Yanbu on these points but yabu on making this thread as you weren't told to leave, someone suggested it and it was fine to not do so. You don't need a thread to reassure you that you are ok to use spa facilities that you've paid for.

IncognitoUsername · 25/05/2024 19:58

I would have stayed till I wrinkled like a prune but I’m petty like that.,

damned right

and I’m a swimmer so I’d have done sodding laps for fucking hours 🤣

Crispsandcola · 25/05/2024 23:10

The temptation to lean in close, lock eyes and stage whisper "yes, we should go, they might want to have sexy time in private".................

ReadingSoManyThreads · 25/05/2024 23:32

Sounds like she was just joking, like in the "get a room", type comments, it's just a joke.

Not much to go on with your post though!

Loubelle70 · 25/05/2024 23:40

Id have said awww thankyou and kissed my friend 🤣🤣

likepebblesonabeach · 25/05/2024 23:51

It depends what happened next.
If you left then moaned about it YABU
If you said "no it's fine we're happy to stay" YANBU

wintersgold · 26/05/2024 00:13

Unless it was getting crowded and she just wanted the couple to have a chance to relax in the pool too, YANBU at all!

TwoShades1 · 26/05/2024 00:22

I think it would only be appropriate to leave if the area was too small to accommodate all of you and you had been there a while. That’s the basic principle of taking turns. I don’t think you needed to leave just because they were a couple. Was it said quite loudly? Maybe it was meant as more of a passive aggressive dig at the couple for being too touchy feely in a public area.

GaryLurcher19 · 25/05/2024 20:14

What's an infinity pool?

A pool where the water flows over one edge giving the illusion of infinity.

greenpolarbear · 26/05/2024 08:59

I probably would have said, "oh, why's that?"

SBHon · 26/05/2024 10:07

Based on the fact they were a couple? Weird. (Also you and your friend could have been a couple too.)

Or based on the fact it was very small and you’d been there the longest?

Disturbia81 · 26/05/2024 11:10

Please please say you didn't leave..

Pearlinda · 26/05/2024 11:11

How weird. 100% would not have got out.
