Told to leave spa area

Today I went to a smallish spa and the big (and only selling point) is the infinity pool.

Me and my friend were the only two in it until two other women joined. Maybe 5 minutes later a couple came in and one of the women turned to us and said “we should go and leave the couple to it”

Aibu to think being a couple doesn’t give you priority and neither should you ask other adults to leave when you have zero authority

“We won’t be leaving, thanks” is what I’d say!

“I’m ok thanks, I was just about to pee” 😂

I would if only moved it there was limited space and it was a bit crowded
because wouldn’t want to hog it if it people were waiting

but I would big thought it could hold more than 5 people

Maybe the couple were being too friendly with each other for the stranger who was making a PA comment aimed at them?

She might have been making conversation. She certainly wasn’t telling you to leave!

I'd have laughed and said "no thanks. I've paid and I'm staying. The couple can get a room if they want privacy. You can leave if you want to."

Nope and nope. Everyone is entitled to be there and what the hell do they need 'privacy' for- if I've paid I'm getting my full use from it!

Yanbu on these points but yabu on making this thread as you weren't told to leave, someone suggested it and it was fine to not do so. You don't need a thread to reassure you that you are ok to use spa facilities that you've paid for.

If you left then moaned about it YABU
If you said "no it's fine we're happy to stay" YANBU

Unless it was getting crowded and she just wanted the couple to have a chance to relax in the pool too, YANBU at all!

I think it would only be appropriate to leave if the area was too small to accommodate all of you and you had been there a while. That’s the basic principle of taking turns. I don’t think you needed to leave just because they were a couple. Was it said quite loudly? Maybe it was meant as more of a passive aggressive dig at the couple for being too touchy feely in a public area.

A pool where the water flows over one edge giving the illusion of infinity.

I probably would have said, "oh, why's that?"

Based on the fact they were a couple? Weird. (Also you and your friend could have been a couple too.)

Or based on the fact it was very small and you’d been there the longest?
