That's it really - aibu (not me actually but a friend) to think this would feel weird, especially if they live above their work?

Just feels a bit odd.

Yabu.

bridgetreilly · 25/05/2024 09:31

YABVU. Funeral directors are kind, empathetic people who provide a really important service with care and dignity. What part of that wouldn’t you want to date?

Hoppinggreen · 25/05/2024 09:31

Plenty of money, compassionate and knows how to wear a suit - whats not to like?
A friend of mine married a funeral Director and now works in the family business, she's very happy

mustgotoday · 25/05/2024 09:32

You're right OP. Funeral directors and all those who work in a field where they come into contact with the deceased, should not be allowed to have relationships.

🙄

Brandnewskytohangyourstarsupon · 25/05/2024 09:32

Why not?!
Genuinely what’s weird about it?

Fulshaw · 25/05/2024 09:32

Funeral directors are still people.

Thehop · 25/05/2024 09:32

Of course it's not weird

JobMatch3000 · 25/05/2024 09:32

I think he could be dead romantic.

HappyAutumnFields · 25/05/2024 09:32

God, Brits are unusually skittish around death.

The undertakers I know are all extremely financially comfortable, if that helps.

BitOutOfPractice · 25/05/2024 09:33

He’ll never be short of business.

YABU Why is it weird?

KimberleyClark · 25/05/2024 09:33

Would you feel the same way about dating, say, a pathologist?

CM97 · 25/05/2024 09:33

Haha ok I won't mention it to her 😂
Idk, I think it's living above it would put me off.

OP posts:
BouleDeSuif · 25/05/2024 09:34

Why would it be weird? It wouldn't bother me at all.

BorisIsACuntWaffle · 25/05/2024 09:35

Some of the kindest people. Calm, gentle.

DownWithThisKindOfThing · 25/05/2024 09:35

I presume not all FDs are single so some people must date them?

YABU

I think it's more that he lives above where he works that I thought felt odd. I guess he's used to it.

They are generally well off, our local one is anyway, though more people are having direct cremations so that might curtail the income a bit.

ButWhatAboutTheBees · 25/05/2024 09:36

We live next to an undertakers...

Is that also weird??

GerbilStyle · 25/05/2024 09:36

He might be elected leader in the zombie apocalypse, he's definitely worth dating

Fulshaw · 25/05/2024 09:38

Fulshaw · 25/05/2024 09:32

Funeral directors are still people.

I might get this put on a tshirt

GrettaGreen · 25/05/2024 09:39

Don't be that friend. The one that just always has to burst your bubble rather than just being happy for you.

TheFormidableMrsC · 25/05/2024 09:40

This is so weird. If he lives above the parlour, what do you think is going to happen?

I was at a funeral recently and one of the staff was super hot. I got a bit distracted! I definitely would have dated him.

MissTrip82 · 25/05/2024 09:40

I think I’d like that. If he’s any good he’ll be emphatic and have good perspective.

I work with a lot of dying people though.

Catsmere · 25/05/2024 09:42

This sounds like someone's just watched The Lochdubh Deluxe episode of Hamish Macbeth!

Reversypercypig · 25/05/2024 09:42

Looks nice in a suit, kind to people, can drive a large vehicle, not short of work, sounds good to me.
