To ask if you put kisses at the end of messages

Even to people you barely know?
I've noticed a lot of people do this, how do you feel about it?

I do to women I know reasonably well (mum friends etc) I don't when I message a business on Facebook but they generally message me back with a kiss. I reckon it's just become so commonplace now that people do it with everyone. Or they think a kiss will make their message seem more personal and they'll get more business that way. I never put kisses on the end of my messages to my mum though🤷‍♀️go figure!

PrincessHoneysuckle · 21/05/2024 16:35

I do

One kiss to an acquaintance e.g dc friends mum/neighbour
Two for friends
4 or more for dh

Pieceofpurplesky · 21/05/2024 16:37

To family and friends. And to the gardener earlier 😳 (not even my gardener but my parents)

Disturbia81 · 21/05/2024 18:00

I do with all women, and men I care about

hoarahloux · 21/05/2024 18:05

I can't stand it but feel pressure to do it back! I've graduated from xx to xxx with my manager! Every single message!

mumtoadhdadult · 21/05/2024 18:11

Only if I'd kiss them in real life.

So only DH, blow kisses to DSs.

Sahara123 · 21/05/2024 18:13

I accidentally did to my boss once , new headteacher of a secondary school . Luckily he thought it was funny

Planesmistakenforstars · 21/05/2024 18:17

Very rarely on messages. Of course not on SM.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 21/05/2024 18:31

I did to the assistant head this morning. ☺️

EmpressaurusOfCats · 21/05/2024 18:38

Only when I mean it, so very rarely on MN.

It does mostly seem weird when people do it on here.

This is like something out of Motherland 🤣

Fifthtimelucky · 22/05/2024 12:32

I sometimes do, but never to people I hardly know, or to business type emails.

I also put an x (or up to 3) when writing birthday and Christmas cards to close family and friends.

I'm in my 60s.

StarDolphins · 22/05/2024 12:34

My job involves lots of emails to schools & there’s so many HT/Teachers (the ladies) that use emojis/kisses!

I really like it!

justafleshwound2024 · 22/05/2024 12:36

Absolutely not. To husband, kids and occasionally very old friends.

WalkingonWheels · 22/05/2024 12:39

I've been corresponding with a police officer recently by text (professionally, not personally!). She's quite new, and has been putting kisses on the end of her messages. It is unprofessional, yes, but also weirdly sweet.

iworkinauni · 22/05/2024 12:42

Rarely and only to good friends

To others who use xx themselves I sometimes use Smile if I think my message needs a happy signoff

But usually no

DisgruntledPelican · 22/05/2024 12:45

I never do it for anyone unless wishing them a happy birthday or whatever.

i don’t mind if people do it with personal messages, but I raise an eyebrow if people are doing it in the school WhatsApp group with the teachers, and I massively judge if it’s included in a message from a business.

EBearhug · 22/05/2024 12:53

I had a colleague who sent 😘 🥰 in work mails. I was very confused by that. I mean, I got that she was grateful for the information I provided, but work - not professional! Not keen on xxx either, and use them only sparingly with those I know well on a social level - even those with whom I've shared a bed don't get them often. So definitely not at work.

Current man uses emojis a lot. Nearly every comment on WhatsApp gets a ❤- he sends one after we've just finished a phone call. I have pointed out I don't really use emojis and he will be aware I use them very sparingly indeed. Another friend, I quite often have to ask him what he means with the little emoji that is barely large enough for me to tell what it literally is, let alone what it's symbolising. Though I suspect he does it partly to wind me up.

At least I do understand xx. But I'm still not going to use them often.

Maddy70 · 22/05/2024 13:07

I do

Grennwyld · 22/05/2024 13:11

With friends and family I always do.
With people I don’t know (like a parent of my children’s friends) I tend to mirror what they do. Sometimes I just put the smiling emoji. It seems friendlier to me.

My DH did this too! His boss was a Phil Mitchell from Eastenders kind of man and when his boss text him about a project, he wrote back ‘Ok babe xxx’, which is how he answers me. He was mortified, but luckily his boss saw the funny side 😂.

Abitorangelooking · 22/05/2024 13:21

I do if they do. It’s a bit tedious but socially polite so meh.

Walksbythesea · 22/05/2024 13:26

I feel like I'm uptight if they do and I don't but I hate it

Crabble · 22/05/2024 13:28

Yes I do to try to convey friendliness - tone can be hard to read in texts and sometimes they can sound a bit curt without.

Hadalifeonce · 22/05/2024 13:29

Never! I did once to DD because she remarked on the fact that I never do.
