If you had to start from a minimal amount (let’s say £1000), how would you go about it?

OP posts:

Covid or asylum contract from a Tory MP (who would need a cut)

Stop eating smashed avocado on toast and getting takeaway coffees.

Jesus, how many coffees and toast with avocado do you have? 😯

LakeTiticaca · 20/05/2024 15:32

I would have to set up an Only fans and market it for those who are interested in 60 plus grannies.
I doubt I would make much money but we'll, you never know 🤣🤣

Sell a kidney.
Sleep with and then blackmail a celebrity.

Bad idea.

Celebrities are quite shameless and would get more money for their side. Also, most if them are not that appetising.

Sell the celebrity's kidney.

I think investing in property and doing houses up .Maybe take longer than 2 years though! Or invent something super and take the world by storm.(Just off to put my thinking cap on!)

mrsm43s · 20/05/2024 15:39

I'm going to take all these ideas type them into a document and then flog a "how to become a millionaire" ebook and you tube course. Bound to make me a million super quick!

whirlyhead · 20/05/2024 15:42

I have a friend (with a family) who is a dominatrix and has a dungeon in her basement - she earns a LOT but don't think she's in the millions yet (not sure how to ask!) She doesn't even have sex with them!

My partner used to live next door to a Tory MP and he's actually a really decent bloke so they do exist!!

Nevermind31 · 20/05/2024 15:47

No one who has an idea that is realistic is going to share that 😂😂😂

I'd pay someone to break into the bank

Sadly the average take from a bank robbery is only about £30k so you'd have to rob lots of banks.

I'd try and get a job as a cleaner or assistant or someone that no one would suspect in a major M&A law firm and then use inside information to trade

dontbelievewhatyousee · 20/05/2024 15:58

You would in my opinion need to create a business start up and sell part of it.

So far I think this is the most viable option. Buy some nice clothes and pay for membership/access to where wealthy old bachelors hang out.

Agreed… spend it on a nice outfit and hang out in a hotel bar.

Or start a trading portfolio

qotsa · 20/05/2024 16:22

@MistyGreenAndBlue you can use the £1000 to order the pizza and ice cream 🍦 😂

therealcookiemonster · 20/05/2024 16:33

high value art theft

bank heist

There was a woman on TikTok (Demi Skipper) who started off with a bobby pin and made hundreds of trades and kept trading up until she got an $80k house. It was interesting to watch.

I'll swap you your £1000 for something worth about £1000.

The swapping things are deliberately chosen with people losing out for someone else's gain for publicity.

There was definitely a Biff Chip & Kipper book on these lines. Each swap he improved the item so the next swap was a higher value trade. V inspirational.

NewMe2024 · 20/05/2024 18:43

That kind of return is virtually unheard of; you would need to either have an awesome business idea that you could successfully execute on within that timeframe, or a talent for investing. Personally I would shoot for the latter but with zero knowledge or experience do not fancy my chances. Both options still better odds than the lottery though.

Choochoo21 · 20/05/2024 19:40

Drug dealer or OF.

But you need to have something very niche to be successful on OF.

And drug dealing is much harder now we’re not using cash as much.
You’d also lose all of the money earned if you got caught.

GentlemanJohnny · 20/05/2024 19:48

Hotels on Park Lane and Mayfair. Houses in the Old Kent Rd and Whitechapel. Own the Electric and Water Works and have a "Get out of Jail Free" card.

HTH.

TotalDramarama24 · 20/05/2024 19:52

Maybe apply to all of the big game shows like Limitless win or WWTBAM or any shows with really high value prizes. Win the top prize then invest it, you could try to build a small property portfolio to make the million.

You have just made me realise that I see very little drug dealing in East London nowadays compared to even a couple of years ago. I wonder if everyone is just vaping now and the demand for drugs is much lower. I think I've missed the boat for making a million.

FastnetLundyRockall · 20/05/2024 20:02

If we're doing theoretical criminality, romance scams seem to pay better than bank robbery. Less outlay too.

FastnetLundyRockall · 20/05/2024 20:05

Or in fact any kind of online grift. Bank robbery is old school!
