I’m not fat, probably slightly underweight. I eat lots of fruit and veg and a healthy ish diet. I just can’t cut out biscuits or chocolate! I often eat a packet a day and then a Mars bar or bit of chocolate too. How bad is this? I’m late 30s

A 433g pack of choc digestives has around 120g of sugar and 100g of fat.

You're not supposed to have more than 30g of sugar per day.

This will be playing havoc with your insulin levels.

Could be lining yourself up for type 2 diabetes.

It happens a lot on MN.
I always check how engaged an OP has been before I get involved in a discussion.

I’ve done that sometimes, only to check back later to find the op has apologised profusely and said she’s been at A&E with a poorly child etc. Have also got involved in threads with a very chatty, engaged op, which have eventually been deleted!

This was me in my 20s, inhaling a whole pack of HobNobs a day and remaining slim.

Those days are long gone and I did have to high cholesterol.

I would say get into good habits now, to set you up for middle age.

It’s not great. This sounds laughable, but maybe try and eat posh ones, which are as unprocessed as you can find.

Yes, the poster might be genuine, but often I think they've just posted something controversial or something that will get people riled up and then sits back to watch.

True, but given how so many people eat a crap diet and struggle with weight, periodic discussions of the impact of UPF, refined carbs and sugar on health are welcome - even if just a handful of people take note it's better than nought.

If you are happy and healthy then fair enough. People ear far worse.

It's not great. But some people eat McDonald's a few times a week or multiple packets of crisps

She may have a healthy weight but I wouldn't want to bet as to how healthy she is

You're an adult. I'm sure you are fully aware that a whole packet of biscuits plus chocolate every day is not great for your health, but I'm also sure that you can decide for yourself whether you're bothered by that. Unlike a lot of Mumsnetters, I can't be arsed to get sanctimonious about what others eat.

Now sure you can call it sanctimonious when people are responding to a specific question by the OP. What are people supposed to do say, 'I have an opinion on how bad it is OP, but I won't share it because others may find it sanctimonious'?

If it's mcvities fruit shortcake then not only is it perfectly fine you're also getting 25 portions of fruit in a day

Definitely 😆 I get 10 portions of fruit a day eating a packet of fruit Club biscuits too 😋 😅

You should probably get your thyroid checked if you're eating that much sugar and are still underweight.
