I’m so scared I have stomach cancer. I’m mid 30s. I paid for private ct which doctor has just said is normal but this is the report. AIBU to still be terrified that it could be stomach cancer?

OP, I do actually have a genetic condition that puts me at a higher risk of some cancers, stomach being one of them. I've also had cancer. I have biannual endoscopies and colonoscopies. Believe me, if they'd seen anything even mildly suspicious, they would have written that on the report. You really need help with your anxiety to stop you spiralling to the worst case scenario.

Is this thickening likely to be caused by stomach cancer 😢😢

No.

I'm just so so scared that's what it is. I've never felt like this for this long before

That's why health anxiety can be so debilitating. It's an endless cycle of anxiety>seeking reassurance>not accepting reassurance and on and on....

OP, seek out professional help for your anxiety. You deserve a good quality of life and this condition, left untreated, will prevent that.

What other things have you thought were wrong with you?

Musshkina · 14/05/2024 19:01

@TheShellBeach bowel cancer - piles were causing bleeding and IBS

Brain tumour - migraine with aura

Ovarian cancer - IBS bloating

And none of them were cancer, were they?

Musshkina · 14/05/2024 19:03

@TheShellBeach no they weren't. But I had definate clear scans etc unlike this one which has shown this thickening.

Jesus H Christ. Why are you not answering those of us who have replied to you about the results and helpfully suggesting that you need to address you HA? You have asked the community if yabu, 35 people have pretty much unanimously replied 'yes', but get help.
You are ignoring them.
What is the point of asking please?

MaryFuckingFerguson · 14/05/2024 19:15

You need to see your GP. Not because of the scan, but for your mental health. Posting on here is not going to help you.

Musshkina · 14/05/2024 19:16

I just don't understand how I can have all these physical symptoms for so long. The nausea, stomach pain, feeling of fullness etc and it not be cancer.

OP posts:
LIZS · 14/05/2024 19:18

Because you have not addressed the anxiety. This will make any underlying cause and symptoms significantly worse.

Well, none of the other things you thought were cancer turned out to be cancer, so this latest obsession will be the same.

Those are all symptoms of anxiety.

Which you definitely do have.

@LIZS @TheShellBeach do you really think so?

If there was any form of large mass would that CT scan have picked it up?

ThisKookyBlueSnake · 14/05/2024 19:37

They think it's thickened because it's partially collapsed. It says on your report that they need to correlate this with some other test.

Your anxiety will be causing a lot of your issues. You need to treat that and maybe go on medication. You cant go around thinking every ache and pain is cancer.

All can be due to anxiety. You do not have cancer.
