Would you take her back to hospital?

19 month old went to hospital on Saturday as she had her first febrile seizure, got diagnosed with throat infection. Sent home and has been fine.

Stayed at grandmas last night and gone into nursery this morning they've called to say they're worried about her as she has a rash, mottled skin and is floppy and not herself at all.

Google is giving me worrying results but know it can be wrong but unsure whether to take her straight to hospital with these symptoms or GP

Sending love and healing hugs to you both.

Copperoliverbear · 14/05/2024 20:46

Could she have HSP have they mentioned that at all. X

Auntieobem · 14/05/2024 20:50

Thinking of you. The thing with kids is they get sick quick, but often perk up quickly too. Wishing you and your daughter well xx

Franticbutterfly · 14/05/2024 20:53

100% straight there.

Sugarcoatedalmonds · 14/05/2024 20:54

What a horrible day for you all. Sending hugs and hoping she has a speedy recovery ❤️

Funnywonder · 14/05/2024 20:55

Glad you went OP and that your daughter is being cared for. What a scary thing to happenFlowers

Nail123 · 14/05/2024 20:56

oh bless her! Hope she’s feeling better soon xx

Strictlymad · 14/05/2024 20:57

Glad she’s picked up, please don’t hesitate to return to hospital any time you as a parent fee it’s needed, even if you’ve recently been discharged, things change so fast with babies, and occasionally drs make the wrong call to discharge too soon. Always trust mummy instincts! I say that as a mummy of a meningitis survivor

TurtleMoon · 14/05/2024 21:07

Glad to hear she is doing OK. She still sounds very, very ill though, and I am surprised there is talk of her going home tomorrow.

Please, please, please, ask them "Could it be sepsis?"

I had to do this a couple of weeks ago and it was taken very seriously (the sepsis red flags would have been missed at triage if I hadn't). It turned out not to be sepsis, but I was so glad I asked, for my own reassurance if nothing else.

Like a PP said, trust your instincts. Don't take her home if you don't feel comfortable doing so.

doitwithlove · 14/05/2024 21:35

Glad to read little one is doing ok. Fingers crossed all will be well.

Not sure if people wanted an update but when we got to hospital she deteriorated and wouldn't wake up so she was taken to resus and was looked after there - she responded to pain and was okay but has been admitted for tonight due to that episode but they do believe it's vital and we should be home tomorrow.

Thank you everyone, I'm glad I took her. I did ask the question originally as I wasn't collecting her and didn't know whether to bring her home first but really glad I met her at the hospital and she's being looked after.

We definitely wanted an update x I hope you are ok, what an awful shock for you x

GabriellaMontez · 14/05/2024 22:49

Hope you all get a good night.

Floralnomad · 14/05/2024 22:50

Hope she feels better tomorrow .

RosesAndHellebores · 14/05/2024 22:55

What a dreadful day. I'd be really concerned that the nursery hadn't called an ambulance to be honest. I would be asking questions.

LeonoraFlorence · 14/05/2024 23:30

I was concerned about sepsis when you first posted. Has this been explored? Glad you took her but I’m not sure she should be discharged already. Always follow your instinct.

itsmylife7 · 14/05/2024 23:38

Did they do a blood test for infection OP.

Have they put her on intravenous antibiotics ?

determinedtomakethiswork · 15/05/2024 00:17

So glad you took her to hospital. I hope she makes a really quick recovery.

Banrion · 15/05/2024 00:21

💐 For you, it's tough being a mum

Computercalendar · 15/05/2024 03:07

A baby/child that is floopy needs an ambulance.

PickledPurplePickle · 15/05/2024 03:27

Thank you for taking the time to update

Poor little thing, I hope she is a lot better very soon

Yes they've really looked after her, I can't fault them at all.

They ran all the blood tests, infection tests, given anti biotics as a caution and put her in a cubicle for poorly babies so the doctors had quick access to her.

She's a million percent better this morning, the rash has almost gone and she's happily playing away.
