To be annoyed my mum doesn't have any of my 'proof' of Dyslexia

I think I am being unreasonable.

But I am really annoyed with my mum for not keeping any of my dyslexic reports from when I was diagnosed in yr 7.

She has given me most of my other important documents which thankfully she did keep. Other bits I now have would also be nearly impossible to replace.

I'm in my 30s and looking to do some professional exams. I could use the extra exam support but I can't prove I deserve it.

More of a rant.

AIBU? She should have kept it right? She has secretary course certs she did in circa 1986 so she does keep things

I was in with the GP for another reason. I asked her if she would have records on it, she said not, but I had apparently told her in the past I am dyslexic and she was happy to write a letter. We are very lucky with our GP she actually knows us personally and our history. Which I know is a complete rarity these days. The board have accepted it.

Oh that is great news

If it is extra time you need then they will need up to date speed of processing scores. It is perfectly possible to be dyslexic but not have scores that entitlement to extra time. Jcq have really tightened up their criteria and I think most other professional bodies have done as well. I would find someone who will do adult assessments (quiye a lot don't because test ceilings for a lot of common standardised assessment is 18 or 24) but the Adult Reading Test, the WRAT, WRIT and a few others are available but as carrying a range of tests is very expensive, assessors pick and choose who they use. If you are near Kent then Ditas are very good.

Agree that Dittas are very good.

Being over the age ceiling of tests is not a problem as assessors are trained to use them qualitatively - otherwise adults wouldn’t get their assessments!
