MNHQ deleted my post. Seemed a bit mean to me tbh

Depends on the context I think. Tbf i absolutely hate that phrase, it's so patronising

Also, are you seriously posting a thread complaining because you're post was deleted?! 😅

Ineffable23 · 11/05/2024 20:05

Wowsers, they literally produced a tee shirt saying it. That's a pretty hefty endorsement in my books.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/05/2024 20:06

And FYATHHYRIO

(and the High Horse you rode in on )

L1ttledrummergirl · 11/05/2024 20:08

I've definitely used it on here without deletion.

GHSP · 11/05/2024 20:09

Just do an advanced search for ODFOD and you’ll see it’s contextualised and illustrious history in the mumsnet corpus.

BettyWont · 11/05/2024 18:10

I've been on MN for 13 years and I don't ever remember it being allowed.

Bluntness seemed to have the monopoly on saying it and not being deleted.

Eminybob · 11/05/2024 18:21

When they're being a cunt?

Absolutely.

I wonder if it has to be used correctly to pass the test and be allowed? I remember telling people and being told by others ODFOD and much worse (I’ve been here for 18 years so I didn’t actually fuck off unfortunately).

BarcardiWithGadaffia · 11/05/2024 20:17

Teateaandmoretea · 11/05/2024 19:57

It definitely used to be allowed. Its deletion is evidence of the sad decline of mumsnet.

The deletions are daft nowadays, I had a post deleted the other day for saying that you'd have to be an idiot to do something and a poster who was hard of thinking reported it as a personal insult. I dont think they even bother to read things, it's probably easier just to delete

And ODFOD was commonly used, this site is snowflakely now

BibbleandSqwauk · 11/05/2024 20:22

I have a mug with ODFOD on it. I use it at work and take great delight in raising it in the general direction of the person I wish would fuck off. I remember it being used liberally here. One of the best things about mn is it's a grown up site. People who tell Ops they should have seen the red flags or chosen a better father for their kids so its actually their own fault they're an SP with money troubles and no break absolutely deserve an ODFOD

BarcardiWithGadaffia · 11/05/2024 20:24

For those saying it was never allowed

To think ODFOD used to be allowed?
DirtyKit · 11/05/2024 20:40

@OneThreadOnly yes!!!! I liked that one too but ODFOD is easier to type 🤣

@Justlovedogs thanks! I never knew this! Kinda love it now I know what it stands for 😄

@singingthypraises I know what you mean. It's a handy one to keep in your head, I think. I find myself thinking in it in real life sometimes, even if I don't say it! 😁

No, I was asking whether it did used to be allowed because I was surprised it was deleted.

Nowordsformethanks · 11/05/2024 20:46

Some people used it to get away with actually saying fuck off. If you saw ODFOD, you may not know what it means or roll your eyes or not feel the sting as much as if it was the full words.

It would be removed if reported, otherwise, not.

Ironically, it is a grown up site indeed, so grown ups need to learn to take responsibility for their actions. Otherwise, other grown ups can tell them the bitter truth. Saying "ODFOD" to them doesn't change the need for accountability.

😂OliviaMN

BibbleandSqwauk · 11/05/2024 22:30

@Nowordsformethanks I don't want to derail this so I won't reply at length but anyone who thinks that all SPs simply made reckless choices 100% deserve an ODFOD or worse. The only people in those scenarios who need lectures about taking responsibility are the absent fathers.

determinedtomakethiswork · 11/05/2024 22:48

I've only ever seen it on this forum so obviously it has been allowed as I have seen it thousands of times over the years.

Nanny0gg · 11/05/2024 22:51

AllotmentTime · 11/05/2024 19:11

I love that upthread we have @Nanny0gg saying she's used it, and then an advanced search proving it 🤣

looks like even ten years ago it was frowned upon though....

😇

People used to say it all the time on here.

FunnysInLaJardin · 11/05/2024 22:54

MN used to have a ODFOD mug. Surely it is still allowed?!

Doyoumind · 11/05/2024 22:58

I hadn't realised but it's definitely been a while since I saw it - until this thread - and I used to see it on here all the time.

Just another way in which MN is so much less fun than it used to be.

Was she banned? I forget. I miss having people like her around and some of her posts did make me chortle tbh. I do think the moderation is somewhat more robust these days, maybe a reaction to the influx of younger users not so well versed in the pithy discussions of longer term posters?

I always thought ODFOD and FOTTFSOF were allowed. A fair chunk of posters used these acronyms in years gone by.

Oh do fuck off dear

I had no idea what this meant either and thought you were telling the op to fuck off 🤦‍♀️🤣
