As the title says.

I feel like it happens a lot... so I not talk loudly enough? Or are people just rude?

I'm sick of it.

Somebody used to do this to me at work. I got to the point of saying loudly "let me finish" and then I'd carry on!

It happens with one of my colleagues - the thing is that I know I’m an interrupter too and I have to fight hard not to do it (and will pick myself up and say ‘sorry, I interrupted you’) so maybe I am hyper aware of it, but it’s so frustrating when nobody gets to finish a sentence as she jumps in and cuts off the end. Sometimes cutting off really important information! I think she does it to me more than others but I’m not sure. It makes meetings very tiring.

Thank you. It might be that some of the people who interrupt you do have ADHD? A lot of people don't know I've got ADHD, and don't realise how hard I'm trying to control the way I speak.
But, obviously many people who interrupt don't have a neurological reason in that way.

I go to a support group, and it has a lot of people with ADHD who attend (including the facilitator). She got fed up with all the interrupting and cross talk, so introduced a 'talking cushion'. You can only talk if you are holding it.
It works great, but you can tell some people are at the point of spontaneously combusting if they don't get a word in.

I sometimes interrupt people when they're repeating themselves because I am impatient. Are you perhaps repeating yourself?

Or, "I am sorry, did the middle of my sentence get in the way of the beginning of yours?"

Some people are just outright rude cheeky fuckers though. I remember having a conversation with workmate, and someone just came up, butted in and asked him about his holiday plans. Like I was not even there. This happens to me a lot.

this is arrogant behaviour which
happens more often than it should

It is upsetting though, to be insulted by someone ill mannered
being dismissive,
as though we are of no consequence

bring back stilletoes !

perhaps they are repeating themselves to ensure their imparted information
is absorbed, you know, with you being so impatient

Thank you so much for this. That's a really good idea. I could hold an imaginary one, and hold it when I'm chatting with people?
I get very upset about the way I talk, as my heart's totally in the right place. But, I find it very difficult to limit words, or to wait to let the words out.
It's a huge struggle. People have made fun of me for my speech, and it's a very sensitive subject.
Ironically I'm an introvert who re-energises alone. I feel compelled to talk, but actually find conversation exhausting! I spend a lot of time alone to avoid annoying people.
Thank you again 😊
