Of course. Why can’t you?

TuckingFerrible · 08/05/2024 16:56

Of course YANBU

KrisAkabusi · 08/05/2024 16:58

You are being completely unreasonable for deliberately leaving such a fucking cryptic post!

alloverthewaves · 08/05/2024 16:59

Oops sorry posted too soon - DH snores which is why we have two bedrooms so we can sleep separately.

Have had a message off air bnb host this morning with details of our weekend away saying the double bed would be made up. I replied saying I wanted both rooms and she's wanting to charge me an extra £40. I'm already paying more than I would for a bloody one bedroomed place.

Cancel

Book somewhere else, that's ridiculous !

InSpainTheRain · 08/05/2024 17:28

Of course you should be able to use both bedrooms without an additional charge. That's ridiculous!

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 08/05/2024 17:30

YANBU.

Weird of the host to assume 2 people are a couple - not that couples have to share anyway, obviously - but you could be friends or relations for all they know.

LakieLady · 08/05/2024 17:32

YANBU, the owner is a cheeky fucker.

wineandcheeseplease · 08/05/2024 17:32

YANBU, thats ridiculous!!

VickyEadieofThigh · 08/05/2024 17:35

We usually book cottages (never via Air bnb) with at least 2 bedrooms, largely because I suffer chronic insomnia and often need to decamp. The beds in the bedrooms have always been made up.

The owner is a CF.

Connected1 · 08/05/2024 17:39

Was it in the original booking info? If not then, yes it's unreasonable.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 08/05/2024 17:42

YANBU the host is a CF.

Yeah, I booked a two bed for me and DH, and got told only one bed would be made up, and I’d have to pay for the extra bed.🤷‍♀️

I got round all this, with lodges etc, afterwards, by putting DD on guest list, even though she wasn’t with us.🙄

CasperGutman · 08/05/2024 17:47

If they're charging for the property rather than per person (so that a booking for two costs the same as a booking for three), then charging extra for using both rooms makes no sense whatsoever. If you're sure this is what's happened here, then cancel, stating why and expecting a full refund. And leave a factual review stating what took place.

alloverthewaves · 08/05/2024 18:11

It's a bit late to cancel really, it's a popular holiday destination, I wanted to stay in a specific town and the weather is lovely this weekend.

I was just a bit aghast at the extra cost.

Could you take your own bedding?

4939 · 08/05/2024 18:19

Awful owner. If they won’t budge, take a blanket/sheets! Always used to do this in one bed places to go on sofa if couldn't sleep.

CatamaranViper · 08/05/2024 18:21

Make sure to include this in the review! I'd actually raise a case with ABB

alloverthewaves · 08/05/2024 18:25

Wondering if she thinks we are being sneaky and bringing extra people. That said, if you're booking a whole property I'd expect to be charged the same per night whoever was coming, obviously not exceeding the number allowed.

Willmafrockfit · 08/05/2024 18:25

if there are two bedrooms agree take your own bedding
i spose it is single room supplement

mondaytosunday · 08/05/2024 18:29

Just say you will not be paying extra as the booking is clearly for two bedrooms (otherwise you would have booked a one bedroom place). If there's pushback and you can't fight it then bring your own bed linen for the second bed, and leave a review stating this.
I often go away with my teenage DD and would expect both beds to be made up without having to explain our relationship, and a good friend often travels with his best mate - a woman - and they always have separate bedrooms.

Maddy70 · 08/05/2024 18:31

Reoly. I have booked and paid fpr for a 2 bedroom property for 2 people as we dont share a bed . I expect the use of 2 bedrooms for the 2 people as booked. With no further charge or I wouldn't have chosen this accommodation. I have never before left a bad review and i would like to have this resolved to my satisfaction and not resort to that.

Chatterboxy · 08/05/2024 18:34

Tell her you are NOT sharing a bed with your brother!

tobee · 08/05/2024 20:14

I thought that there was the new(ish) privacy rule where they were no longer allowed to ask who else was staying etc? So it wouldn't come up?
