Trying to lose some weight… been trying to be good but not sure and never know how to count calories etc.

Today I had:

breakfast/lunch:

  • 2 oat coffees in the morning
  • Greek yogurt with walnuts and honey
  • an apple and about 5-6 strawberries
  • 1 cereal bar 78kcal one

dinner:

  • 1 glass of rose
  • goat cheese about a third so ~50g
  • mixed leaf salad
  • 4-6 plum tomatoes
  • walnuts
  • dressing (bit of drizzle)
pudding:
  • 1x strawberry Actimel
  • 30-35g dark chocolate

any thoughts? TIA

I have been on the chubbier side before and I was bullied by my family.

it really sticks and can see the signs of getting chubby again.

i know I’m not overweight but I feel like I was on the way to there…

I would feel much better if I was around or just under 9 stone.

I’m finding it hard to cook and eat healthy on my own. I like food but it’s the planning and cooking part and knowing what foods are good for me 🤯

@TheMarzipanDildo a lot of UPF relative to the amount of food, which no isn't a lot.

Peonies12 · 02/05/2024 09:36

I don't think that's nearly enough food? If you are living on your own, it is hard - have you tried batch cooking something and freezing small portions? Something like a chilli made with half mince and half beans, and lots of veg.

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 02/05/2024 09:36

I ate healthier on my own than I do now.

I think your dinner is ok as a lunch but there’s not enough food there.

I don’t think you are overweight either, are you carrying weight in one area perhaps which makes you feel ‘big’. I carry on my tum which sucks! Are you working out too? Drinking plenty of water? I don’t eat great myself so won’t suggest any meals!

TipsyKoala · 02/05/2024 09:40

That doesn’t sound like a lot of food. Ditch the cereal bar and the actimel, keep your salad lunch, but have a dinner of protein like a chicken breast with loads of veggies.

Onand · 02/05/2024 09:43

Lots of sweet items on that list…can you swap some for say crudités with humous?

Ditch the rose it’s wasted calories

Is the ‘dark chocolate’ 85%+ cocoa? Anything less and you may as well have Dairy Milk

No idea about your water consumption but make sure it’s at least 2.5 litres

Also coming on to tell you that you don't need to lose weight. I'm the same height as you and currently 66kg - would like to be where you are and worked out that at 63kg my BMI would be 21 which is perfect for me. When I went through a stage of being obsessed with diet and exercise and frankly miserable I went down to 55kg and was a size 6. Looking back I was wayyyyy too thin and obsessed with my weight and eating hardly anything. Honestly I'd stay right where you are and if you're family are calling you chubby they're bonkers! You must be a size 8 at your current weight and height.

Youcannotbeseriousreally · 02/05/2024 10:01

There is no where near enough food here!

SocksAndTheCity · 02/05/2024 10:03

There was one of these yesterday too, until it got deleted. Have the pro ana boards shut down again?

Misthios · 02/05/2024 10:04

At a BMI of 21 or 22 at 5 foot 7 you are not "chubby". You do have a disordered attitude to eating and body shape though.

mindutopia · 02/05/2024 10:05

I don't think it seems like enough food, but mainly it's very carby/sugary, no substance. You need say, eggs and veg and fruit for breakfast, or salmon, roast veg, lentils and salad for dinner. Cut out the sugary yogurts, chocolate, cereal bars and alcohol and eat more protein, healthy fats (avocado), fruit/veg.

Squish12 · 02/05/2024 10:08

Definitely too much sugar as you're not eating much else to balance it out, you must feel hungry constantly eating just that?

BIossomtoes · 02/05/2024 10:09

Remove the cereal bar, Actimel, wine and honey and that’s decent low carb. You need to add in more protein and veg/salad and the weight will fall off. The Greek yogurt is fine as long as it’s unsweetened.

Groovee · 02/05/2024 10:10

Maybe exercising will help tone you up. I've used Lucy Wyndham-Read's YouTube videos to tone up before.

Olika · 02/05/2024 10:11

For me that is not enough food and not right kind of food.

TheShellBeach · 02/05/2024 10:15

That's ridiculous OP.

I'm 5' 3" and I'm on a diet.

My goal weight is less than your current weight. And I'm four inches shorter than you.

You have a disordered relationship with food.

Edited

She doesn’t need weight to fall off though.

Namechange23589 · 02/05/2024 11:27

I think your weight is perfect.
On the food front, if you find cooking for one depressing why don't you check out ready meals. If you look at the ingredients, a lot have no upfs and are really nice, including the budget range ones.

SpeedyDrama · 02/05/2024 11:39

This isn’t about food, as with most peoples issues around food you’re not addressing the source of it. You’re punishing yourself through food because of how awful your family were. Thats what you need to work on, because having narrow and rigid diet based on past perspectives is the least healthy thing here. Even if you were a stone (even 2!) heavier you’d still be healthy, and quite frankly a lot happier. Food is not the enemy.

CultOfRamen · 02/05/2024 11:43

Chubbste · 01/05/2024 23:04

Thanks all. I’m not quite sure what I am doing but I haven’t been feeling great in my skin and stepped on the scale this morning.

I’m 5’7 and nearly 10 stone. Ideally I’d like to lose a stone to go back to my slimmer self.

i know I’m not fat or overweight but I had some issues with my weight as a teen and scared that it might happen again.

Not to drip feed but I have been living on my own for 6 months. Before that o was in a relationship and cooking healthy food for 2 is so much easier than when you live on your own - at least that’s what it feels like.

just cook for two like you were before and eat one portion for dinner and one portion for lunch the next day…..

Freakinfraser · 02/05/2024 11:44

It sounds fun to be fair, but very unsubstantial and not healthy in the long term. Are you veggie?

no one can help you in terms of cals…for example how much yoghurt, how much honey, how many walnuts, how big was the glass of wine, which chocolate was it, etc

pelotonaddiction · 02/05/2024 12:11

You could have

Greek yoghurt and berries for breakfast

Salad and a protein for lunch

Easy meal like stir fry or an omelette for tea or do some batch cooking?

Or soup for lunch and have the salad for tea

That's 3 proper meals that don't have to be high calorie

CactusMactus · 02/05/2024 12:53

I would be starving on that and I am a 5.1" size 8.
You need some good protein - salmon or chicken + some brown rice or lentils.

Workawayxx · 02/05/2024 12:57

It doesn’t sound enough to me (although depends on Greek yog and walnut potion sizes). I’d also aim to up protein. So measure the Greek yoghurt and walnuts and add a proper lunch - salad/sandwich/wrap etc with protein (cottage cheese/chicken/tuna are good).
