or rather, did I over-react? Colleague thought it would be funny to spread a rumour as an April Fools joke that the father of my unborn child is my boss, not my DH

I was NOT impressed and told her so in no uncertain terms.

Apart from the fact that I don't want bloody rumours about the parenthood of my baby flying around the office (of course, it is DH's, no doubt about that !!) its effing unprofessional!

Should I have laughed it off, or was I right to be annoyed?

hopefully it didn't reach the boss...she can live in terror of you from now on lest that happen

Heifer · 02/04/2008 11:16

glad it got sorted MamaG

out of interest, is your boss fit? or is he a minging muppet? cause that of course makes it all ok if he is fit

Tippychick · 02/04/2008 11:50

hee hee at heifer

Seems like a gracious apology to me, good for her.

MamaG · 02/04/2008 11:52

YAtotallyNBU what a terible thing to do. Its intrusive and a slur on your beautiful baby - i would have been tempted to smack her in the mouth, but then im pretty hormonal myself just now (PMT from hell).

Mind you, we did this, i used to have to spend lots of time at work in a small room with a male collegue who im really good friends with. He was involved with another close friend of mine at the time. But we perpetuated a myth that my baby was his and my partner knew and was happy about it - i think some people did actually wonder. Mind you, it backfired a little, when DD was born with a "spock/pixie ear" identical to the one my friend has . He got much teasing for that - we tried to get a couple of T-shirts with "who's the Daddy" on them for the christening (hes a godfather ) but felt that it might be a little inappropriate for a catholic ceremony

lucyellensmum · 02/04/2008 12:27

ah just seen the apology post - that was nice

totalmisfit · 02/04/2008 12:39

it's workplace bullying. what a bitch. april fools day was clearly just a convenient excuse for her to humiliate you.

MadameCh0let · 02/04/2008 14:43

Ok, I forgive her, she apologised properly and admitted it was in poor taste.

She's probably a bit of you being a Mum.

Kitti · 04/04/2008 16:56

That is incredibly stupid - how old is she 3?? I would have been horrified - she needs speaking to by your boss and she should apologise and let everyone know that it was a stupid childish april's fool.
