To be shocked at the arrogance of this man

Selling my car, man rings me interested. We arrange a time he can come look at the car. I arrive at the time to see he has all my car doors open and is sitting in my car routing through the glove box and at the manuals. My DF was also meeting is there as he had the keys, DF rang to say he had to go get a tyre pump because one tyre was flatish. Df must have left the car open.

I approach the car and said oh have you seen my DF who opened the car for you. He laughs and says no the car was open so thought I'd have a look, why not. No apology. I just thought it was very arrogant to open up someone else's car and sit in it whilst routing around. He knew I would turn up at any minute. He also didn't know my DF would be showing up, so makes me wonder would he have done the same if he knew a man was meeting him. I think he probably wouldn't.

He took it for a drive. Said he would let me know either way yes or no. But he didn't and I didn't hear from him. Why say that if you had no intention of doing it. He was also running on about making his drive bigger to accommodate 8 cars in his drive blah blah.

Aibu to be annoyed about this?

I think he can be forgiven for assuming it was left unlocked deliberately. Most people don't leave their cars unlocked.

You shouldn't have left the car open. Don't understand why you didn't pump the tyres up yourself...it's very easy.

sigh I didn't leave it open DF did. I didn't know I had a flat tyre until I arrived and DF was on his way to get a pump

Was the car unlocked or open?

Either way, guy turns up to look at car, car is there, car is open, guy gets in and gets the manuals out of the glovebox.

Cant see the issue.

sigh well DF shouldn't have left it unlocked then.

There's no point getting annoyed about it just remind DF to lock the door or sort the tyre out yourself.

What sticks this? The car doesn't have the old lock things on the door to see if it's locked or unlocked

That's why I said "some"
Some still have visible unlock "sticks" in the window

Others it can be because the wing mirrors aren't folded in for example

ButWhatAboutTheBees · 25/04/2024 00:48

And really... if the vehicle was at a site that wasn't my home then I'd make sure to arrived at least 10 minutes prior to the buyer arriving so that I could check the car over myself, allow for the buyer being earlier etc

2 men
1 female

Female selling car. Stores it on Male’s premises. Male turns up and sees flat tyre on female’s car and goes off to try to resolve issue to no benefit to himself (for female as her car).

Male 2 turns up, no one there wanders around car, opens door handle, it’s open has a look.

Female turns up. Pissed off at Male 2 for opening the doors and Male 1 for leaving door open .

Male 2 fixes problem and then takes Male 1 out for a test drive.

As far as i can see… the female in equation does bugger all except be pissed off and start a mumsnet thread about it

It’s not yours as you’re selling it.
WTF?

Cocothecoconut · 27/04/2024 07:31
