Cat walked through paint all over brand new drive!

Cramberry · 21/04/2024 20:02

Dh was painting garden furniture on our front lawn. When he came in for lunch he did not account for our cat jumping on table (never does this). We are now left with a trail of painted paw prints on our 2 month drive!

What can we do?? White spirit did NOTHING.

Piss paw planning to be fair

^

😅😅😺

coxesorangepippin · 22/04/2024 01:50

Looks more like a raccoon paw than a cat's, to be fair

OrderOfTheKookaburra · 22/04/2024 01:53

Try looking for a graffiti removal kit.

My builders managed to absolutely cover the road in paint when we first moved in, and it was removed by graffiti remivalists.

You do realise that this is historically mandatory for either a dog or cat to "improve" human work in this way. Any museum at a Roman villa or similar will have tiles on display which have been marked when wet in this way. It's imperative.

Yes! And on Time Team they had a WWII spigot mortar that had dog paw prints in the cement.

Definitely kitty. We don’t have much in the way of raccoons here in Yorkshire Grin

Contact the people who laid the paving for advice.

GreyTonkinese · 22/04/2024 05:02

When some painting contractors didn't predict our brick steps very well from spots of paint falling, I used a paint scraper on the worst bits and my husband used an abrasive cream cleaner - do you have Jif in the UK - and a brush with elbow grease. I have some vague memory of steel wool or a wire brush. I'd do a small bit and see how it goes.

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 22/04/2024 06:36

Poor cat he was just exploring his environment.

I think a pressure wash too but paintstripper covered in cling film might soften it enough to scrape off.

GreyTonkinese · 22/04/2024 08:01

Power washing or chem washing didn't shift ours at all. I have checked with my husband and he says he used Jif and a scouring pad rather than steel wool or a wire brush.

I’d be more worried about the cat licking its paws to try and get the paint off, tbh!

This

Get your priorities right OP 🙄

DuchesseNemours · 22/04/2024 08:06

How many more times is the OP going to have to explain she has cleaned the cats paws already🙄

BoobyDazzler · 22/04/2024 08:07

A pressure washer will sort it

TheNinthLock · 22/04/2024 08:20

Glad cat is ok.

If not too many paving blocks affected, you could lift and replace individual blocks.

The writer of that manuscript got off lightly - there's another where the scribe was extremely narked to find a cat piddled on his work overnight. 😄

A friend of mine was packing a suitcase to go off and she her adult dd and new baby gd
She left the suitcase open on the table with just minutes to go before she left while she nipped to the loo
Big mistake-the cat pissed all over her clothes and sat there as if to say 'your not going now are you?'

A girl a work with had all her uni work laid on the table
She'd finished it and went to bed, ready to hand in the following day
Yep,puss widdled all over it
The uni lecturer didn't bat an eyelid and gave her time to re-write it so it must happen all the time

Leave them. In 6 months you'll find it funny rather than annoying!

This. Also at some point in the future they will be a lovely reminder of your cat.

FlexIt · 22/04/2024 08:50

Come on op let’s see the photo!
Check paint tin for cleaning
Try graffiti remover from Amazon

Sparklfairy · 22/04/2024 08:51

DM had concrete laid last week. The workmen left so she let the cat out. There are now paw prints all in the concrete...

It wasn't even a huge area, the cat could have walked around or even jumped over, but no. Immortalised paws.

Bramshott · 22/04/2024 08:59

One of the bricks in the back wall of our 1880s has has unmistakeable pawprints in, left by a Victorian cat at the brickworks.

Oh my! 😂

My girls don't do the peeing on things, but one of them had a "klingon" last night and I found out when I walked in it ...

Coastalcreeksider · 22/04/2024 09:02

In my last house, I had a brand new hardstanding and base for a shed laid. It was a pretty large area. The builders finished it off and went home. My two cats kept well out of the way, they hated strangers, builders being the worst.

The following morning, I went down the garden to admire it and there were two sets of cat prints going from one end of the hardstanding to the other and back again. Obviously checking that the work was of a high standard.

😆

Honestly sounds like one of those #familying moments! Bet you will laugh about it in a few months time

CutthroatDruTheViolent · 22/04/2024 11:12

@Cramberry there was a similar post on reddit r/DIYUK yesterday - someone had spilt paint on their driveway. I'll try and find it for you because they managed to get it off.
