apparently, according to dh, it's odd.
he always blocks the bathroom for an hour gets dressed first thing.

his dad was the same, but my lovely mil also gets up and has her Brew before getting a shower and dressed.

Never get dressed before breakfast, that way if I spill porridge down myself it doesn't matter. At the weekend I wear them until late while I do the cleaning. No point putting something clean on before doing the bathroom.

StormingNorman · 20/04/2024 22:15

I like to get dressed before going downstairs. When I was in my twenties I would spend entire weekends in my pyjamas. Now it feels slobbish to me. I do have a chronic illness though and spend far more time in bed and unable to do basic things than I’d like. So I think wearing them all day or until late has taken on negative connotations.

Zanatdy · 20/04/2024 22:16

In my own home I always eat my breakfast in my Pj’s. I don’t want to get dressed first, not sure why you would. I like a cuppa and porridge and breakfast tV for an hour or so before I start my day

LoveSandbanks · 20/04/2024 20:23

Absolutely no. Get up stagger downstairs, make a cuppa and log on. Any calls are camera off as our company policy.

i do get dressed but that’s mostly because ds has a tutor 5 days a week at 9.30.

This is me. I put a jumper on over pj's. Then I get showered, breakfast etc during my first break.

AmiShitsaline · 20/04/2024 18:38

I don’t get dressed out of my pjs unless I’m leaving the house

100% this

bluecomputerscreen · 20/04/2024 19:49

definitely getting dressed before wfh!

I'm not. Emails in pj's.

GRex · 20/04/2024 22:24

It's very much an individual choice thing. On weekdays, I get DS dressed before breakfast because it reduces the rushing and opportunities for chaos later. I then also get showered and dressed, because otherwise time disappears somehow. DH is more leisurely, so he gets the coffee/milk and breakfast sorted, then dresses while we eat. At the weekend or on holiday, none of us dress until we need to be ready to go out or it's 11.30, which is my arbitrary time to make us all dress by so we are ready to do something/anything after lunch (we never stay in all day).

We stayed in an upmarket ski hotel once and I was surprised to see the women (mainly Russian) at the breakfast buffet in their silk Gucci pj's! Wasn't sure if my Primark's were up to scratch...

Did they sleep in them though?

When in hotels for the weekend, I bring breakfast wear. So, I change out of pyjamas, usually into swimwear. Then I wear leisure wear on top. Children do the same. After breakfast, we have a we wander around, swim, stick said leisure wear on to get back to the room.

Then we shower, dress, go out for the day.

OpusGiemuJavlo · 20/04/2024 22:29

I hardly ever eat :breakfast" so usually my first food of the day is at lunchtime when yes I guess I am technically "breaking my fast" and I am psychologically unable to eat lunch in pyjamas so I will be dressed even if i have been in pjs till 13:45 getting hungrier and hungrier but too busy to stop to dress. However if I do eat breakfast I will definitely do so in pyjamas

CrispieCake · 20/04/2024 23:10

I'd play your DH at his own game. Get up before him, occupy the bathroom, take a long, leisurely bath (take a book in), spend ages getting ready...

And then smile beautifically and say "You know, darling, I've been thinking and you're completely right. It's so much nicer being clean and fully-dressed for breakfast. Thank you for showing me the error of my ways - I shall do this every morning from now on".

Ahwig · 20/04/2024 23:12

When we first moved in together my husband took the piss out of me for loving pjs. I'd get home from work, shower then Jim jams on. Fast forward a couple of years he has fully embraced the whole Jim jam vibe except obviously he calls them lounge wear. He works from home 4 days a week wearing a shirt or smart t shirt on top whilst wearing " lounge wear " on the bottom 😂

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 20/04/2024 23:13

On weekdays we get dressed first (DS and I). On weekends usually breakfast in PJs.

Just because getting dressed first is more efficient, and we need to make the time count as neither of us like waking up.

DD does her own thing.

nothingsforgotten · 21/04/2024 00:45

I always have breakfast in my pjs. If I didn't I would be bound to spill something on my clothes. 😅

K0OLA1D · 21/04/2024 01:03

Maelil01 · 20/04/2024 18:51

Does this mean you go to bed (on occasion) wearing the same thing you’ve worn all day around the house ?

I got up, dressed, braless in a band t, and I'm currently in bed, wearing said band t. Horror

Aquarius1234 · 21/04/2024 01:17

Wow very rarely do I shower and get dressed first.
I don't get up till late mornings as it is.

Koptforitagain · 21/04/2024 01:20

PJs all day long.

JMSA · 21/04/2024 08:16

YANBU at all! I'm guessing it was drummed into him during childhood that this was a lazy, indulgent thing to do.

bluecomputerscreen · 23/04/2024 18:53

how about dinner in pj's?

went for a run after work and got caught in a hail shower <brrrrrrrrrrrrrr>

warm shower and now looking forward to dinner in pj & dressing gown.

dh can't complain today as he's doing dyi and looks like there was an issue with the paint brush.

Higglings · 23/04/2024 19:11

I once stayed in a Blackpool b&b, yes I know what you're all thinking, and a couple girls came into breakfast in their pj's. 🤔

MummaMummaJumma · 23/04/2024 19:13

I have breakfast after the school run so I’m always dressed, bar weekends. Kids eat in their PJs, always.

I almost always have breakfast in my pjs.

Birdh0use · 23/04/2024 19:19

He should bring you tea in bed if he has strong feelings about it....

HideTheCroissants · 24/04/2024 13:08

I can’t eat for an hour after (or before) taking my morning medication so I eat breakfast at work (before my paid time starts). I find it best to be dressed at work…..
