apparently, according to dh, it's odd.
he always blocks the bathroom for an hour gets dressed first thing.

his dad was the same, but my lovely mil also gets up and has her Brew before getting a shower and dressed.

I usually have my breakfast in a bowl but on a plate, should it be toast or the like.

When I was working (including WFH) I was up, showered & dressed before having breakfast.
Now I am retired, one of my great luxury's is to get up (when I want) and then have a leisurely breakfast before getting showered & dressed.
If I have an appointment or am going somewhere I revert to type and get showered & dressed first.

definitely getting dressed before wfh!

@Cotswoldbee ivwant to retire!!

only another 13 years to go

loropianalover · 20/04/2024 19:59

It depends on the day. During the week I personally prefer to be dressed and ready so I can sit down to brekkie and not feel pressure that time will slip away.

On weekends I usually shower first thing then have coffee and breakfast in dressing gown.

Redglitter · 20/04/2024 20:02

He'd hate me. If I'm not going out I live in pj's. Don't see the point in putting on things like a bra and other clothes when I could be wearing jammies

I have an impressive collection of them

Dearg · 20/04/2024 20:07

Eating tea and toast in pjs and dressing gown is one of life’s joys. Your DH is very wrong, it’s not at all odd.

YorkshirePuddingsGreatestFan · 20/04/2024 20:08

I get dressed after breakfast. My parents did and I thought everyone did.

My ex didn't tell me that his parents get dressed before breakfast. First time I stayed there, he had to sleep on an airbed downstairs as we were not allowed to share a room as we were unmarried.

I went wandering down in my pyjamas the next morning and they were all sitting at the dining table waiting for me. His mother looked at his father and said "oh (husband), Yorkie has arrived for breakfast in her nightwear!" and they all looked at me in disgust. Honestly you'd think I'd ran in stark naked and straddled him on the dining table with they way they went on! Sheepishly went back upstairs and quickly got dressed before returning for my breakfast.

Yes, I could never get my head around people appearing on Teams in a dressing gown or half dressed.😖
Most of my team looked pretty much the same on screen as they did when in the office, just a couple pushed boundaries and seemed to go out of their way to appear as if they had just got out of bed.😴

Growlybear83 · 20/04/2024 20:16

My husband has to bring me breakfast in bed every day. I slipped a disc two years ago and I need something in my tummy for my pain killers to work and for me to be able to get up. But if things were normal again I wouldn't go downstairs for breakfast until I was showered and dressed.

MenoBabe · 20/04/2024 20:19

Maelil01 · 20/04/2024 18:51

Does this mean you go to bed (on occasion) wearing the same thing you’ve worn all day around the house ?

And so what if she does?

LoveSandbanks · 20/04/2024 20:23

bluecomputerscreen · 20/04/2024 19:49

Absolutely no. Get up stagger downstairs, make a cuppa and log on. Any calls are camera off as our company policy.

i do get dressed but that’s mostly because ds has a tutor 5 days a week at 9.30.

Same here! Bras are for going outside.

RM2013 · 20/04/2024 20:31

I love having a leisurely breakfast in my pjs at the weekend. DH always dresses before coming downstairs but I don’t always depending on what I’m up to

avocadotofu · 20/04/2024 20:31

I always have breakfast in my pyjamas at home. It's weird your husband cares one way or the other.

Tellyaddicttellyaddict · 20/04/2024 20:33

I always have breakfast before showering and getting dressed. If I'm not going out I'm happy to potter about in my PJs for a bit if I'm doing jobs.

Dh likes to get up and showered and dressed straight away. He won't do anything until he's had a shower.

Just preference I guess.

DearAnt · 20/04/2024 20:33

Totally normal to have breakfast in your PJs. If anything, I think it’s a bit weird to get washed and dressed to have breakfast at home.

Watchkeys · 20/04/2024 18:36

This is like starting a debate about whether you pee then brush your teeth, or vice versa...

Or hold your knife like a pencil?

bluecomputerscreen · 20/04/2024 20:36

and the important question of wearing knickers under pj's...

OP posts:
Niegenug · 20/04/2024 20:44

I get up, get washed, get dressed and comb hair. That takes about 40 mins to an hour. Then I get going and might get breakfast a few hours later or in the afternoon or evening if I've been busy.

Could never get up and start eating straight away.

ohthejoys21 · 20/04/2024 20:47

We stayed in an upmarket ski hotel once and I was surprised to see the women (mainly Russian) at the breakfast buffet in their silk Gucci pj's! Wasn't sure if my Primark's were up to scratch...

Maelil01 · 20/04/2024 21:50

MenoBabe · 20/04/2024 20:19

And so what if she does?

Are you her mum or her bodyguard? Or maybe it’s that she’s lost the ability to type her own replies…

lazyarse123 · 20/04/2024 21:53

AmiShitsaline · 20/04/2024 18:38

I don’t get dressed out of my pjs unless I’m leaving the house

This.

AdoraBell · 20/04/2024 21:54

At home not unreasonable.

IvorTheEngineDriver · 20/04/2024 22:00

We made our DC have breakfast in their PJs. That way no cerial or buttered toast down the front of their uniforms.

lazyarse123 · 20/04/2024 22:02

Not breakfast but teatime we sometimes have fish and chips which I usually go for and I overheard DH saying to son "we could never go to a fish restaurant because your mum always takes her bra off before eating" 😂😂. He's not wrong after my shoes it's the second thing to come off.
