AIBU to suggest that women seem to be the superior sex when it comes to The Apprentice TV show? *spoiler alert*

ApprenticeWinnerxoxo · 20/04/2024 07:09

Every year, they start with single sex teams. Every year, the women's team outperforms the men's, leading to the teams having to be reorganised into mixed sex teams.
For the past 5 years, the winning candidate has been female!

Paul would have won it if he'd agreed to 50%. Phil should never have been in the final in the first place.

If it has already been on live tv, it’s fair game for discussion and it’s up to you to do what you can to avoid spoilers after that point.

you know, like avoiding threads with “The Apprentice” in the title.

🙄

It is fair enough! I didn't have to watch it on Thursday and completely forgot to avoid places for spoilers. I think the title gives it away though, and more so now with the *spoiler addition.

PrincessFionaCharming · 20/04/2024 14:57

So what, the whole internet should censor itself because you forgot to not avoid spoilers?!

Don't be silly. I said it was fair enough. My own fault that I'd forgotten.

It's no real surprise as I don't think Phil should have been in the final two, given his past failures.

There's me thinking it was about the apprentice because it's a current topic, not thinking it would reveal who won.

Apologies, I misunderstood your post.

@CurlewKate I said he was a lovely guy, not a fantastic businessman 😆

I thought it was unfair for Lord Sugar to demand a 50% share of Paul's existing business. Why should he expect Paul to give away something he achieved independently. Winning the Apprentice is meant to lead to a prize and not a financial sacrifice. It's not Dragon's Den.

How can you spoil something that was on 2 days ago?

Anyway - the whole thing is unrealistic.

Well it would be difficult to spoil it before it happened.

Penguins3 · 21/04/2024 08:39

Putting spoiler alert after writing a title which completely gives it away dosen’t help … I had hoped to catch up tonight … but hey ho

I agree, we were shouting at the TV telling Paul to say no to giving Lord Sugar 50% of his existing business. He was probably the strongest candidate overall, and didn't need to give away the business that he had already built.

Exactly. You could see the interviewers were desperate for him to change his plan to the dentistry, and then for LS to ask for 50% of his whole business at the last minute. he did the right thing. LS's not going to mentor him in dentistry. He just saw someone doing all the work and him coining it in.

I struggle to believe that the contestants on the show are the best young entrepreneurs the country has to offer. They are surely picked for entertainment value alone with the odd slightly more sensible one who could reasonably be a winner. The work they produce is often on par with a school project and the £250,000 is probably just absorbed as a cost of making a hit bbc show and if it’s never seen again, that is no big loss. Saying that, I loved some of this years contestants, particularly Tre who I thought was a lovely guy and wish them success.

Yes its so obvious that some of the candidates are there for entertainment value alone. I do think this year they have done a better job of weeding out the obvious 'People who want a reality TV /influencer career' who have bought a job lot of some old crap from China, selling it on ebay out of their bedroom and passing it off as a 'business', but there were people who were never going to get investment. The woman who was fired instead of Rachel despite Rachel giving her the entire marketing part of the task was running a social enterprise. LS isn't going to be interested in that, unless its as a charitable venture outside of The Apprentice.

KnickerlessParsons · 21/04/2024 09:05

The pieman also threw the final IMO because he didn't want to give away half of his family business for £250k.
He only wanted investment in the pies by post business.
As soon as he said he wasn't interested in profits he knew he was never going to win.
I think his business will do well from the publicity though so he will "win" in the end

MrsSkylerWhite · 21/04/2024 09:09

They all seem pretty hopeless, male or female.
Of course, the real young entrepreneurs are just quietly getting on with it, not trying to pursue a reality tv career.

Itsaloadofbollocksbut · 21/04/2024 09:15

Not sure why they had to dress like crayons in the board room……..

Sorry @Penguins3 It wasn't my intention to spoil it for anyone. I realise now that getting spoiler alert added to the title made it worse and not better.

It would have to be very hard to avoid who won when it was on last Wednesday. It would mean avoiding any media, Twitter, Facebook, any social media and even the news for several days.

Along with any potential spoilers on the TV as well.

I think you can be forgiven. Watching a show with a winner several days after it takes place means you risk finding out who won.

There is quite a stark gender divide in my workplace....the women far outperform the men, are collaborative and work autonomously, admit mistakes and generally are enthusiastic. Not the same performance from the men.
