To tell you how happy I am with my new home?

I am just so unbelievably happy and grateful with my new home. This isn’t a ‘stealth brag’, it’s a shout from the rooftops how happy I am post.

I’ve had a rubbish few months with hospital stays due to pregnancy complications and the process of buying the house was the most stressful thing I have ever gone through due to mistakes made my solicitors.

We moved from a small flat which had terrible soundproofing and noisy neighbours. There were SO many steps to get to the property, the parking was a nightmare, neighbours wheelie bins were overflowing which meant rubbish lying everywhere, dog poo up and down the street, mould in the flat, no storage space and the list goes on.

We now live in a quiet street, have a driveway and no steps to the house, a private back garden, so much storage space, a much bigger kitchen just more space in general and A BATH!!!! I haven’t had a bath in a few years, only showers. I am in the bath now (TMI - sorry) and oh my it feels like I am at the spa!

This morning my partner and I sat in the conservatory, looking at all the beautiful flowers, watching the birds feed from the feeders and he asked me ‘do you hear that’. I asked what, and he said ‘exactly!’. It was so quiet and tranquil compared to what we have been used to.

Anyway, I am just so unbelievable grateful and so happy that we will be bringing our baby up here and had to share that with someone!!!!

loropianalover · 19/04/2024 19:52

Congrats!!! This gives me hope for myself.

My dream is to have a small, private back garden. Just enough space to have a table and chairs, comfy lounge chair and room to put clothes out. I can’t wait until I can dry clothes outside in the fresh air!

Bunniemalone · 19/04/2024 19:54

Congratulations! I'm really pleased for you. I totally understand how you feel. We moved 6 years ago, from what was a lovely house, but dreadful & noisy neighbours, no parking, on a dual carriageway, drunks fighting outside most nights. My car was written off by someone driving at 70mph into the back of it. We moved to a small 2 bed bungalow. On a quiet lane, with a drive ( first one we've ever had) Short walk into a lovely shopping area. We hadn't realised how stressed we were until we settled in here. Still feels a bit like we are in holiday. Enjoy your new home💐

5128gap · 19/04/2024 20:04

Your post takes me back to the day I moved into my 'proper' house with garden!! After being stuck in a grotty bedsit I felt like a lottery winner. So happy for you OP. The joy, followed by contentment and security of being adequately and happily housed at last can't be overstated. I wish everyone could have it.

RisingSunn · 19/04/2024 20:05

Gratefulgreat · 19/04/2024 20:11

Thank you so much everyone for your kind words. I was worried I’d get flamed and be accused of bragging, but I am just so grateful!

@Bunniemalone that sounds bliss compared to your previous home. It’s amazing how much lighter and stress free I feel in the space of 24 hours! I was really worried about the impact the stress would have on the baby. Now I can relax until baby comes (in between unpacking boxes 🤣).

@loropianalover I hope your dream comes true. It really is so lovely to have a peaceful garden, with space to dry clothes outside! I won’t take it for granted

@5128gap I wish everyone could have it too. Whilst my living conditions before were no means terrible, I feel like a new woman moving in here. I can only imagine how much of an impact some people’s living conditions have on their lives 😢
