To be annoyed there are never any bras in my size?

I hate going bra shopping as they rarely seem to have any of the smaller size bras (34A/AA) and if they do it's just an odd one at the back of a rail or something.

I already feel embarrassed about my lack of boobs so doesn't help that I often walk away empty handed! I usually have to try them on as I find that I'm a different size in some shops so online isn't really an option.

Where should I shop?! AIBU to think shops should cater for smaller sizes? Fed up of feeling like a child!

This brings back memories. I’ve been 36B since I had kids, but I was 34A from ages fourteen to twenty-seven. You’re not being unreasonable. It’s a less common size, but it’s not so vanishingly rare that it should be difficult to find.

And when I did find bras, they were always white and beige! Occasionally black. Once I found a turquoise one and I just about cried with happiness.

If you're wearing a 10/12 on top then a 30 band sounds about right. Definitely not a 34 band.

That ^^
I'm a 16/18 and wear a 34 band and it's not uncomfortable at all

homezookeeper · 15/04/2024 01:09

Primark. Every branch I've been in to for a good few years has your size plentifully.
I get pissed off rooting around trying to find my size.

Interesting! I was measured at M&S. Not sure which places are recommend for accurate measurements?

Bravissimo is way better than m&s

Omg omg omg other 38a people!!!!! Hiiiiii!!!!!!! I generally get told I’m wrong, they try a bigger and smaller size on me and then go ‘ohhh’. When I was pregnant they told me maternity bras aren’t a thing for my size!!!
edited to add thank god for m and s!!!!

This. If I could wear an 36B, I would, because there's so much choice in that size.

It was even more fun at 40-42", (M&S did about 1 style - anyone else just laughed,) but then I lost 3st.

I've had boyfriends with bigger boobs.

I had a breast lump checked at the hospital. "Well, if we have to do a lumpectomy, we'd have to remove the lot, they're so small." Yeah, this could be said more tactfully and without the laugh, at a time I'm already feeling vulnerable...

Anyway, if you're at either end of what bra manufacturers consider normal, you won't be well catered for. Therefore I don't often wear a bra these days. At least that's an option with an A-cup.

ALPHAFEMALESINCEBIRTH · 15/04/2024 01:58

at least you can wear bralettes, crop tops or nothing(ohh how i would love to wear nothing)

i(and many others) don't have that option

try being a 42N cup(natural no surgery)
i own 1 bra
that ive had for years and i had to get that specially made from America

im not a "fat" person either just have massive boobs

i was a C cup at 9 and by 13 a G
by early 20s a J and it was my second baby in 2010 that did it he was a giant baby(29 inches and 11lb11oz) and i went massive in pregnancy went to P cup and been a N cup ever since

no amount of weigh loss does any difference and NHS wont help with reduction as it dont cause enough medical problems

ByeAgain · 15/04/2024 06:56

Opposite but same problem here. 28HH. There is one bra style in the country that works for me. In black and beige. So no hope in hell of buying in store. Bravissimo fitted me. Rigby and Peller didn’t do my size.

My huge boobs made me self-conscious and cry in my late teens and twenties. I have made my peace in my fifties. I would love small boobs, for various reason. The grass is greener I guess.

Fellow big-boobed sympathiser here. Bra companies don’t like us!

greengreyblue · 15/04/2024 06:58

I’m 34 D and can never find mine in the colour I want. Always loads of 34B, 36B. I order online and be prepared to return. It’s quite easy these days.

Coasters4Life · 15/04/2024 07:01

sanityisamyth · 14/04/2024 22:26

@Coasters4Life try 34J! A lot of supermarkets are going up to G/H now but not quite as far as J 😭

It's so frustrating! I find now the g's tend to start at 34 it's like they don't understand big boobs are in a smaller band too. It would be great if they were lovely and full and youthful but after BF and weight loss, they are like sacks that need to be rolled up and popped in.

I'm a 40L, good luck finding that in a supermarket! 😭😭😭

holyguacamolebatman · 15/04/2024 07:07

i can recommend little women on line for bras for small ladies.
try being a 34aaa like me. i am as flat chested as yiu can get. having a mammogram is incredibly painful as there is nothing to squeeze betwen the plates ☹️☹️

Your back measurement was 34 inches when you were 14 years old and then it was still 34 inches at 27?

Get thee a measuring tape!

belfastjun · 15/04/2024 07:11

@ALPHAFEMALESINCEBIRTH

That sounds so tough!

I can't wear bralettes or crop tops because they would stick flat to my chest and make my boobs look even smaller! My stomach is bigger than my chest so it's not a good look when wearing fitted clothing. I need a bra to give some padding and make me look like I have something there.

Sadforthem23 · 14/04/2024 22:18

For the under boob measurement, you add 4-6 inches to get the strap size. I've recently had success getting smaller bras for my daughter (34A) at H&M.

No. This is not accurate. M&S are notorious for this. I was wearing 34b for years when I'm actually 30e. You wouldn't add 4 inches in to your trouser waist size when buying jeans so why would you do it for your chest? Try measuring using boob or bust calculator. Someone with a small back is unlikely to be a 34 band

A 14 year old with my size 10 overbust measurement but underbust? Doesn't sound right?

MoonGeek · 15/04/2024 07:20

Have you tried pepper bra? They have a range just for small sizes.

greengreyblue · 15/04/2024 07:24

Just went to M&S online. I see your point. 500+ bras in 34D and 15 in 28a.

stayathomer · 15/04/2024 07:26

No bra with droopy fried eggs that just point out and down size a boobs isn’t really for me, I hate a lack of support but I get it’s a different kind of discomfort if you’ve a larger size.

Hedgehoghairy · 15/04/2024 07:33

I'm saying the same as everyone else. I have been wearing a 34 C or D for years. Went to Bravissimo and they didn't even measure, just looked at me. I now wear a 32E and didn't know bras could be so comfy!

belfastjun · 15/04/2024 07:36

I feel like I need a day where I can just go shopping, get fitted and try on different ones until I find the right fit. I also need to sort myself out with some new clothes and find a pair of jeans that actually fit me! I always have my little one with me though so it's so hard to find time.

M&S add 4" on to the band which is ludicrous. Your circumference IS your circumference! You don't go to a tyre fitter with 16" alloys and expect 20" tyres to fit!

Made me lol @sanityisamyth and, like a lot of the funniest things, it's very true.

M&S told me I was a 42B or C. I'm a 36G/GG, depending on make & style, or a 38F in one style in John Lewis.
