PT charge full session

lpylou · 12/04/2024 19:22

I had to cancel my PT session at the last minute (was at 16.00) because I couldn't shake off a terrible headache.

I was going to go anyway but was getting ready and felt dizzy. I'm 15 weeks pregnant and it's definitely related.

If was hot in my home office today which is in the loft and I didn't stop for a lunch break so I could fit in my PT. Whilst I did eat lunch I was in that hot office all day.

I really didn't want to cancel but as quite worried I would make myself worse if I went.

More than 3 hours on it was the right call. It's becoming more of a migraine and food, pain killers/water/garden doors open haven't helped.

I haven't don't this before so don't know if it's normal but I've been charged the full session for not giving 12 hours notice.

Can someone tell me if this is normal. Maybe it is. She said she stayed at work because of my booked session.

Well yes of course, you booked her time, she couldn't resell it could she?

Posithor · 12/04/2024 19:24

Yes completely normal to have to pay (ex PT)

AllTheNaps · 12/04/2024 19:25

Seems pretty normal to me, these things happen I'm afraid and I think 12 hours is lenient to allow time notice. Obviously you can't account for being ill but they have to safeguard their income too.

SingleDoubleWhippedClotted · 12/04/2024 19:25

Totally normal, and reasonable.
You are paying for her time.

stillavid · 12/04/2024 19:26

Very normal - is this the first time you have cancelled at such short notice?

PuttingDownRoots · 12/04/2024 19:42

If your employer said they had no work for you this afternoon... would you still expect to be paid?

CornishPorsche · 12/04/2024 19:43

Perfectly normal to have a cancellation policy. And this seems a normal one.

gratefulbutsad · 12/04/2024 19:44

I thought so but wanted to check. Must get off my phone as head is hurting. Thanks all.

MuscariFan · 12/04/2024 19:44

Seems entirely fair, yes

Snackpocket · 12/04/2024 19:45

Perfectly normal. Most PT’s have a 24 hour cancellation policy, any less and you pay.

Tiddlywinkly · 12/04/2024 19:46

Yes, of course you pay. It's her job (and policy).

Starzinsky · 12/04/2024 20:57

Not sure why you would think you shouldn't pay.

Can someone explain how some posters still manage to have a name change fail? Doesn’t your username stay the same when you’ve started/commented on a post

CatHerderSupreme · 12/04/2024 21:09

Yes, I think you’d have to pay as you’ve not left enough time for them to rebook & they’ll need the money. I hope you are ok.

cryinglaughing · 12/04/2024 21:26

She is making a living from doing PT's and is doing the right thing in still taking payment.
Many require 24 hours notice, it is quite generic to be given 12 hours.

hagchic · 12/04/2024 21:35

Entirely normal and sensible terms and conditions for PTs/hairdressers/masseurs etc.

Otherwise people cancel willy nilly on the flimsiest of excuses and let the service provider lose money.

bellezarara · 12/04/2024 21:57

Of course it’s normal.

Her mortgage/rent/bills don’t reduce because you cancelled, she still has to pay, ergo you have to pay.

What do you do for a living, OP?

WarshipRocinante · 12/04/2024 21:58

Yes, of course that is normal. They still have bills to pay. If you cancel at short notice it means they have no chance at rearranging or booking someone else in, so they just lose the session. They don’t need to lose the money though; you have to pay.

mondaytosunday · 12/04/2024 22:24

Yes, just like hairdressers etc. Normally it's 24 hours notice.

Caroparo52 · 12/04/2024 22:30

Of course you have to pay. You booked her time and didn't cancel on time. She can't recoup her lost time.

Tab33 · 12/04/2024 22:31

You should absolutely expect to pay the full fee.

Take a read of the ts and cs you signed up for initially.
If you went to work today and your boss said, we don’t need you 10-1pm, so we won’t pay you. But we need you to stay until 5 as you have a 1-5 meeting. Would you be happy with not being paid for that 3 hour gap?

LIZS · 12/04/2024 22:37

There is often a minimum notice period to cancel without charge or even part charge. At short notice it is unlikely they can fill the slot.

theeyeofdoe · 12/04/2024 22:44

Yes normal. Just join a gym and do what’s within your energy level that day. PT’s rarely add much.

JMSA · 12/04/2024 22:45

Snackpocket · 12/04/2024 19:45

Yes, her cancellation period is actually really generous.

Capmagturk · 12/04/2024 22:48

Of course it is! 🙄 what would happen if every client today cancelled? She'd be left with no wages.
