To not be able to run…

I'll pre-face this by saying that I have tried the couch to 5K, but that didn't work out for me.

I have full gym membership, and access to treadmills, there are plenty available.

But I just can't run!

It's almost like I feel extremely heavy when I try, I weigh 9 stone, So not carrying lots of extra weight, but I just can't get the breath right.

What am I missing? Is there some kind of secret Runner's trick! I just can't seem to run, and I'd really love to be able to, as it's such a great way to lose weight, and keep weight off Physically when I don't have access to the gym.

Can anyone share their success stories of learning to successfully run on the treadmill, and then being able to take that outside to running outdoors.

While I can run 5km without stopping this week I slowed it right down even further and it was much more comfortable. I concentrated on pace rather than HR and found it easier overall.
@Octomingo - after giving blood it's usually recommended here to wait at least 3/4 days before real exercise. Give the body chance to recover

I've just completed week 1 of C25K. I decided to start again as I realised I need to have a goal to work towards and someone to tell me what to do! 😅
How's everyone else getting on?

I can't run.

Years ago, I joined a local running group, and they ran a beginners group (was basically C25K, but with peer support).
I went a few times, did the homework, but I ended up with leg pain every time, and it put me off. Ironically, the group was called Shin Splints.
I have very wide hips, so I wonder if my gait is just weird. I think some people are just not built for running. I struggle to run a bath!

I am kind of envious of people who can just chuck some trainers on and go running for miles.
