I think there are two albums. This is the grief album and the next one is the victory/starting over/new life album. Most likely a surprise release. I think that's why she did so many mash ups in the recent leg of the tour, she wanted to do the old songs a bit more before having a new era to work through.

I also think illicit affairs is a triangle song. Vs 1 is about James, vs 2 Augustine and vs 3 is betty.

Why anybody who doesn't like TS comes on a TS thread continues to puzzle me.

My DD said it’s been categorised (no idea where) as “synth pop”. If true it sounds more Midnights than Folklore.

I'm trying to keep an open mind about what the album will sound like, but hoping that it's not another synth pop/Jack Antonoff heavy album. I prefer the Aaron Dessner produced songs from her recent albums.

Agree re: Jack vs Aaron. I love Jack but I always adored The National years before I ever even considered listening to TS, and Aaron's vibe is much more up my street really.

I feel like Midnights was a nice compromise in sound between 1989 and Folklore e.g. Maroon, but yeah, this one feels like it'll be a bit 1989ish and I don't think that album can be beaten.
