What a total wanker. And slandering Ines? Fucker.

OP posts:
peakygold · 11/04/2024 16:58

Taylor Swift? Are you 14 years old, OP?

SashTea · 11/04/2024 17:06

@ImperialCrusade You should draw your own conclusions about who Swift's muse(s) for Cardigan and August are though 😏

I really had decided these were part of the story but you make excellent points. Can't wait to share this theory with the DC, they love a Taylor exes chat. All say they would never dare date a singer songwriter in the future 😂

user8800 · 11/04/2024 17:11

I adore TS, and Betty is one of my favourites :)

She has a real way of adding a gut punchingly sad line when you least expect it...

Betty: "I'm only 17, I don't know anything..."

All too well: "so casually cruel in the name of being honest.. "

^ both of these remind me of being 17/18, and I find the sentiment behind them so accurate of being that age

TTPD · 11/04/2024 17:12

@ProncessDiana I think "good songwriter" is pretty subjective. But I do think it's ridiculous to take a handful of individual lyrics and say "see, it's sounds silly". Anyone can do that with anything:

Yes we're going to a party party
Yes we're going to a party party
Yes we're going to a party party

Wonderful lyrics by the renowned songwriters Lennon and McCartney.

Just say you don't like Taylor Swift. It's a perfectly reasonable opinion. But literally any songwriter can have individual lyrics taken to use as examples of how bad they are.

EconomyClassRockstar · 11/04/2024 17:12

Whenever I hear James turning up to Betty's party, I get irrationally annoyed and always think, "I really hope she tells you to fuck off" so apparently I've found my people!

OldHabitsDieScreaming · 11/04/2024 17:18

Just say you don't like Taylor Swift

Or maybe, just don't say anything at all. It always baffles me when people post on threads like this to specifically say they think the person/thing being talked about - by fans - is crap.

I don't go on eg: the Love Island threads when people are having fun discussing it, to tell them it's shit, because that would be a graceless dick move.

OldHabitsDieScreaming · 11/04/2024 17:19

Anyway...moving on and back to excited anticipation of TTPD 😊

I have never felt more out of touch with popular culture than when reading this post.

Well if it makes you feel any better, the album these songs are from will be 4 years old in a couple of months. 😱

SashTea · 11/04/2024 16:44

Yes I will cross my fingers for a non-busy work day @OldHabitsDieScreaming! I know it's her feelings and truth and choice to tell her side, but I really hope it isn't a total ex-destroying bash. That'll be too much for me especially after the vitriol thrown around by the minority (but loud) cray cray Swifties.

I feel a bit like this. 10 minutes of 'So long, London" could be a bit too on-the-nose.

OldHabitsDieScreaming · 11/04/2024 17:25

What does everyone think about the theory that TTPD is going to have a sister album eg: a repeat of Folklore/Evermore?

Personally I can't see how the hell she has the time; she must sleep max 3 hours a night as it is!

Although if it kills 'London Boy' forever it'll be worth it, imo. Now that is a crap song (sorry, Taylor).

I think unlikely. This one almost feels like Midnights Part II.

Yes exactly. I feel, knowing as she does how wild many of her fans will go with theories from her songs, that she has a responsibility to be mindful of the impact her words will have on her ex. She yields a lot of flipping power, and he's in the public eye too and getting a massive amount of hate already.

No matter what he did, or how hurt she was, he doesn't deserve any of this - the relationship was what it was. Not to mention there are two sides and he's being dignified and decent - but also undoubtedly is under an NDA!

Agree! I really don't like anything on Lover though.

What, not even False God?!

It's not my favourite album, I agree. But that is a cracking song.

Thanks 😳I also think her expressions on the Long Pond Studio Session version are a dead giveaway (the stare straight down the camera on the "when you were young they assumed you knew nothing" line and the comment at the end about it being such fun).

@OldHabitsDieScreaming - London Boy is super cheesy but I think it's a bop. She's just like "yeah, I know all the London slang"

Also related to "So Long, London", I think we shouldn't forget that she's spent a lot of time in the UK in recent years and it probably feels like a bit of a second home (and maybe she got more privacy over here?)

I don't think Brits appreciate how many British English terms she's used in the newer albums that go over the heads of a lot of Americans and non-native English speakers. A lot of people don't know what a fortnight was (they thought it was a song about the game 😂) or what "splashing out" on the bottle meant in Champagne Problems.

I was going to say what's TS but I think I have figured it out now.

Theedgeoftheabyss · 11/04/2024 18:31

What about The Archer?! Daylight?! It doesn't hold a candle to Folklore though!

midnights0 · 11/04/2024 18:37

Have I found my people?? The way my eyes widened when I read the thread title. Anyone want to be friends? 🤣

EmmaEmerald · 11/04/2024 18:38

I think the way August fades out is intentional....that slow fade out of an amazing experience subsiding....maybe there's no exact moment it ends. (Xref Is It Over Now?)

I don't have a view on the rights and wrongs I'm afraid!

I have no idea what we’re talking about but I’m siding with Betty and think she looks stunning in her new cardigan.

Totally this!!! And matching with her slingbacks which are just as fabulous 🤩🤩

BeaniesMam · 11/04/2024 18:45

If you haven't already then watch ‘The Cardigan’ a Taylor swift inspired movie on Youtube 🩶

EmmaEmerald · 11/04/2024 18:48

@Theedgeoftheabyss there's a thread for the music on the Music board but I'm guessing lyrics are fine too 🥰
