i have the flu- i have been ill since Thursday with horrible body aches that don't respond to paracetamol and lovely cough. Am alternating paracetamol with ibuprofen 2hrly to feel comfortable/ sleep and have zero appetite

FWIW i'm generally healthy- gym/ spin 5 x a week, healthy weight and had flu jab as nhs person

i have a conference tomorrow that i'm very disorganised for so can't really delegate. i'm an active participant so can't not show either , Also. i'm on temporary contract that i'd like to be made permanent so fessing up to my lack of prep is not a great plan (though the reality is other pressures are most of the reason)

so, backstory/ excuses over- please hit me with your coping-for-the-day remedies? then i will be sensible and see a GP and stay in bed etc

If you think you can go in you DO NOT have the flu

Not another one. 🙄

So we're adding "able to think about doing things" as evidence for not having flu. Is it only leaving the house you can't think about with flu or is it all thought? Like can you wonder what would have happened if Rachel hadn't got off the plane or does that only relate to absence of scarlet fever? This is so hard. I knew there was a reason I chose Literature over Medicine.

I doubt you're going to come back to this, but I'd just like to say in case anyone else sees this with the same issue - whatever you miss, no matter WHAT, will not be the be all and end all. Nothing is so important that you should risk infecting others and making yourself worse by forcing yourself to go. Never.

How did it go @MsRosewater?
