Its strange how a lot of people struggle with older toddlers and poo.

We develop bowel awareness and control early than bladder & there often seems to be an element of stubborness around poo, bad habits that they don't want to change.

I maintain kids are less resistant and better at it if you start a bit earlier - they are less stubborn

My DD was wee trained a month after she turned 3 however we found she only did poos in her nappy when we put her to bed. Without fail 10 mins after putting her to bed she'd be shouting us to change her nappy. Probably took 6 months to stop this. We didn't night train, we took the night nappies off her just after her 5th birthday (could've stopped a few weeks before but we were going on holiday and I didn't want to risk her wetting the bed whilst we were away). Last wee accident was probably whilst she was in school nursery, she's a June baby though so she was probably still only 3.

Don't worry OP - the time is very close now.

My son just couldn't get it at two, but suddenly trained 100% at 3 because he was ready. Some of his friends just weren't ready until three and a half or closer to four, but when they got it they got it.

The conclusion I reached is you can work very hard and put up with endless accidents, or you can try a few times and when they are ready you will know because it is easy, and pretty much no accidents.

Yes, this I was my experience as well. DS1 trained fine at 2 years 3 months, got it pretty quickly but in a nappy at night h til well past 3.

DS2 - not ready at the same age, so we left it for months on nursery advice. He suddenly says he didn’t want to wear nappies just after he turned 3.

I can’t say any of it was down to great parenting, just how they are.

I took spare clothes on trips at least until 5.
