Depends on what you consider UPF I suppose

Teriyaki Salmon, rice and broccoli.

Prawn stir-fry

Omelettes and salad.

Roast dinner

Chicken, wedges/chips and veggies

Chicken/pork/fish/veggie Skewers, cous cous/pasta/rice and steamed veggies.

MuggleMe · 07/04/2024 21:38

Jacket potato, spag bol is actually pretty low UPF.

WittiestUsernameEver · 07/04/2024 21:40

I use the flour and greek yogurt flatbread recipe to make pizza, naans, cheese stuffed pockets etc

Buckwheat pancakes and cheese

Soft Boiled Eggs and asparagus soldiers

Arrestedmanevolence · 07/04/2024 21:41

Depends on what your definition of quick is. Organic baked beans on toast (home made bread), scrambled eggs on toast, quesadillas, mackerel on toast.

I like toast 😂

Tray bake - with chicken thighs/steak/salmon/cod with sweet potato chips mixed with olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder serve with peas or sweetcorn

Baked eggs - passata, salt, pepper, crack eggs into sauce and bake. Serve with crusty bread to dip.

Pesto pasta - blitz cottage cheese, 3 garlic cloves, parmesan, sun dried tomatoes and add to cooked pasta

WittiestUsernameEver · 07/04/2024 21:43

Oh DD4 bloody loves roast mackerel, green beans and roast new potatoes.

WittiestUsernameEver · 07/04/2024 21:44

Risottos. Favourites here are pea and lemon or chicken.

Also jollof rice is always well received, especially with a few prawns in top!

Ninahaen · 07/04/2024 21:45

lentil bolognese

Alloveragain3 · 07/04/2024 21:46

Air fryer chicken mini fillets with home made chips, green beans and corn on the cob

Spaghetti with muscles and spinach in a tomato sauce

Rice and tuna with veg and soy sauce

Chili con carne or Spag Bol with side salad

Lamb chops, baked sweet potato and olives

(Dairy, egg, nut and several other allergies but we make it work!)

Alloveragain3 · 07/04/2024 21:47

Oh and I forgot the ultimate easy meal. Sliced tofu in the air fryer (add paprika, cayenne pepper or whatever), noodles and any veggies

Airdustmoon · 07/04/2024 21:52

Omelettes
Egg fried rice with lots of extra veggies added (and a bit of ham or chicken for DS - not me as I’m vegetarian)
Jacket potatoes (are beans UPF? But other toppings are available!)
Home made pizzas

pastabest · 07/04/2024 22:17

I cook pretty much everything from scratch due to family dietary issues with gluten and sulphites - literally make my own bread/ ham / pastry/ soft cheese etc but 'quick' options are

Omelette

Baked potato (I slow cooker mine so they are ready when we get in)

Carbonara - pasta, egg yolk, parmesan, black pepper, flakes of homemade ham. Food of the gods.

Cherry tomato and garlic pasta

Fried egg and 'chips' (potato wedges)

Leftover roast meat with crackers and cheese and crudités

It is. And it's their favourite!

Thanks all I'm going to have a good look through and make a list later ☺️

Why have I never tried cooking tofu in the air fryer?!? Thank you!

I bought a rice cooker and it has made a huge difference to how quickly I can pull something together quickly - it literally just cooks the rice, but it is perfect every time.

I quite often do Japanese rice and then we just have that with salmon or a fried egg and stir fried broccoli/bok choi and sprinkled with sesame seeds and chilli flakes. Everyone likes that and it's really quick and easy.

Also chilli (beans and lentils for us as dh doesn't eat meat) with wholegrain rice or sweet potato wedges.

I make a quick tomato and red pepper sauce (can be made in advance and reheated) and cook cod loins in it - serve with rice and veg.

If I'm doing something that goes in the oven, I tend to roast the veg (so baked salmon with roasted broccoli, for example) - that means it all goes in together with no extra faffing.

mitogoshi · 08/04/2024 07:58

Normal food? I've never cooked separate food for my kids

How about rice (takes approx 15 mins from the start) with stir fry salmon, veggies, garlic, ginger, honey and soy sauce. Most pasta dishes - again on the fish theme cook pasta and separate pan fry salmon with zest of lemon, a courgette, a red pepper and onion, add creme fraiche, lemon juice, oregano, chopped parsley, season then add to pasta. Takes under 20 minutes

prescribingmum · 08/04/2024 08:01

We are Indian and our traditional food is all UPF free - daals with rice (so many lentil options for a daal), veggies cooked as a traditional curry (not the type you would get in an Indian restaurant) with chappati or rice.

Roasted veggies seasoned well with pasta
Pasta with spinach and ricotta sauce (using frozen spinach)
Jacket potatoes
Toasted sandwiches with veggies and cheese (homemade bread)
Egg fried rice with frozen veggies
Eggs cooked any way!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 08/04/2024 08:02

Egg fried rice (rice needs to be cooked in advance anyway) with peas and sweetcorn.

mitogoshi · 08/04/2024 08:02

Another favourite is risotto, the cheap version. Soak some porcini. Pan fry onion, fresh mushrooms and garlic, add 1 cup risotto rice, add oregano, the porcini plus soaking liquid, 3 cups boiling water, a stock cube, rind of Parmesan, simmer until rice almost cooked adding more water if needed, add grated Parmesan and chopped parsley for final minute. Takes around 20 minutes

mitogoshi · 08/04/2024 08:04

Should say cheat

Afraidofthedarke · 08/04/2024 08:14

I buy the Aldi butternut squash and pine nut tortellini for a very quick after work meal with veg.

Scrambled egg on toast/omelette and salad.

Homemade cheesy sauce with pasta, prawns and veg.

Surely premade filled pasta is UPF?

Kids (and some adults) love bland food!

I wouldn't be complaining about lack of seasoning if a kid is happily eating chicken, tomatoes, veg and rice with gusto.

The kids round our way are fed on a diet of pombears, bear yo-yos, turkey dinosaurs and potato shapes and the like. All crap junk food marketed as "kids food". I was at a nursery picnic once. One 2 year olds lunch was a prepacked shelf stable chocolate "croissant", a frube, a pack of wotsits, a pack of mini party rings, and a milky way. And no, it wasn't a "treat" lunch, this was what she had every day! Just sugar and junk all in packets! Must be so expensive.

Rosesanddaisies1 · 08/04/2024 12:08

Anything we eat? Hate the idea kids need their own food. Just whatever - chicken stir fry, baked salmon with veg, fish pie, lentil ragu, paneer curry, jacket potato with cheese and beans, burritos.
